Any Winkler fans?

Anyone know why the every carry was discontinued or did another offering take its place? Seems like the every carry was a go to for edc. How could it not have been popular enough NOT to discontinue it?

The Everycarry was the smallest of three knives that were designed by Jason Knight and produced by Winkler (the other two models were the Jaeger and the Pathfinder). These were produced several years ago, but have not been in production for a while now. It might have just been intended as a limited run from the outset. I have the Jaeger and it's a fantastic blade. I hope we'll see another run of these Knight-Winkler collabs at some point, but who knows.

...although after I took the pic I realized I forgot a couple.

Ok, great timing on this thread popping up, I just found out about Winklers veteran discount today! I am looking for an outdoors knife for hunting/fishing/camping that I can also use around town on occasion too. I am pretty low speed high drag and I do not baton knives so I dont need the thickest tactical pry bar around, I just want something that can open up my mail or a deer/trout, and I think the Winklers are pretty (especially the wooden handled ones). The Operator looks "bird and trouty" to me, but I am concerned about it being a stabby weapon first and a useful knife second.
So, I have a few questions for you all if you guys wouldn't mind helping me out.
Which Winkler knife on the Winkler site would you recommend for a regular joe outdoorsman like myself?
How does the Operator compare to the Huntsman, Highland Hunter, and/or the Belt Knife? (I left out the Blue Ridge Hunter and the SD models because they don't have tapered tangs and that seems cool. I have never had that on a knife and want to give it a shot. If you think I should be looking at those instead, let me know!)
Thanks Bladeforums!

Operator handles sit in the hand amazing for both, I would love them to have a slightly larger guard for piece of mind but I've never had an issue with slipping. The one I'm referring to was micarta so I'd imagine rubber sculpted scales would stick like glue

I have an SD1 and ordered a Blue Ridge Hunter back in Oct, still waiting on it. I have other knives with tapered tangs and as long as the knife is balanced I don't care but to each his/her own. Hopefully I'll be able to post the BRH in this thread before the end of this month.

No. She looks like a complete sh!+ sandwich.

You need to sell that thing to me before your Friends start to make fun of you. Seriously.
If I suddenly become afflicted by a chronic case of incurable stupid, you'll be the first person I reach out to. 🤣

Short of that, I'd consider trading for a Winkler dagger. Joking, mods!!

I guess you liked the first one then lol Have you found the blade stock on the SD1 too thick for good cutting?

Wish Winkler did custom knives. I wouldn’t mind an operator at 4 inch blade and the SD1 & SD2 at 3 1/2 or 3 3/4 blade. I feel like the SD’s as they are intended to be EDC knives would benefit more from a longer blade then the 3 1/4 blade.

It will do both jobs quite well.

I'd look at the Woodsman or the Highland Hunter if you want a full size (4"+) knife, and the Huntsman or the BRH if you want something a little smaller. Personally, the latter two are my favorites.

Thanks to this thread I’m now jonesing for a Winkler Operator in green Micarta. It just might replace my TRC Splinter 120.

Order placed for an in stock item from a dealer. No 4/5 month wait.
