Saw an ad for a spyderco endura 4 for 15 bucks. Looks slightly used in the pics. Don't know if you guys like to buy new and ding it up yourselves or if people don't mind buying used blades. I also don't know my spydercos. This seem like a good deal? I'll post the pics from the ad.

Absolutely, but with the caveat you have to watch out for counterfeits and other things. Knowing HOW to buy a used good and get a good deal is a skill in and of itself.

Do some research on how to tell the counterfeit endura from a real endura. Do some tests. I'll absolutely buy something for a great deal, but you need to know your business.

+1 on being very careful, there are lots of fakes out there! Personally, I buy almost all of my used knives off the forum classified section.

Only thing I ever saw was Chinese and Pakistani garbage.

I trust Craiglist as much as door to door driveway coaters or tree cutters - DON'T IMHO.

I've gotten western 49s for under $70 a piece. Ground down one. If it was bad steel, it would have taken a lot less time.

If you know what you're doing- and most people don't- there are deals to be had.

CM, there's at least one decent knife being offered in the Fresno area right now. Not my jam, so I don't know if price is good (certainly not the steal we see here).

Just checked ... a S110V Manix for $90 and a Buck 119 for (LOL) $100.

You have got to be very careful of fakes, especially with spyderco. Also be careful you are not murdered. Lastly, You are not allowed to ask about prices at your membership level.

CM is right. I've only see junk on craigslist. Haven't checked in years. Not worth my time.

Craigslist is only good for buying stolen property and hookers.

Oh dang, I avoid Craigslist at all costs, due to the getting robbed and murdered factor, If something was so appealing that I had to buy from Craigslist. I would demand the face to face be done right in front of the police station in the parking lot or something.

I'd avoid. I've done sales and bought some stuff on craigslist and similar, and it was troublesome. There is just a lot of things that can be wrong. you really have to be in your wheelhouse of expertise to get a decent deal, and the number of scams run is incredible. To be honest its far better to deal here. same thing goes for pawn shops. From time to time you might strike a deal, but far and away, assume they know more than you. Pawn places don't stay in business by giving bargains.

I found a Chris Reeve Pro Soldier the guy was going to sell me for $130. He didn't know what he had and it skeeved me out so I passed. Was also saving for a beach trip for the family.
