Anybody buy used knives off Craigslist?

I went to several different complexes and spoke with the manager and then arranged a walk through.

I think Craigslist is different depending on where you are. Check out the SF bay area craigslist, and you'll find the local economy assumes everyone is using it, and there are much higher quality everything, from products to apartments.

To each their own. I've found craigslist very useful, with proper precautions. I've never, ever had anyone come to my domicile. I've gone places with friends.

I bought an edge pro in 2015 for $50, stones included, dale's signature. So maybe I'm biased.

Fresno sucks. Car theft capital of US and (at one time) meth capital.

Yep. I found CL reflects the local economy/culture. SF bay area- I've met plenty of programming professionals making 100s of 1000s of dollars a year that use it to buy and sell. They're professional, and most of all- EFFICIENT. No bull.

The SF bay area isn't generally a good deal because everyone's so savvy the market is highly efficient.

I have had real good luck with CL. Yes, I do my homework and always meet in a public place. I have probably bought 20 knives from CL, Sebenzas, Microtechs, Benchmades, Emersons, Spydercos, Tops, Falkniven. I have seen some fake stuff too, but most post it as a clone. I think your comment on it reflecting the local economy is right on.

So everyone has enough $$ to buy a house? Are you near detroit?

Ok...calm down a second and take a deep breath. I'm not from the ghetto, but nice way to try and take a jab at me.

-Mortgage=$850 (including property tax)
-Rent=$950 (a friend)

I'm with you. Bought my house April 2014. Try having a knife shop in an apartment, assuming it has a garage.

Congrats CM!

Renting is still renting. In fact, finding houses for rent is harder than apartment buildings. Unless you're using an online platform, or a friend happens to clue you in to a rental, I have no idea how you'd get a rental in a time efficient manner.

Houses are great. Some areas of the country, like the SF bay area, have no houses available or for ludicrous prices.

H'mmmm - I've gotten some hellaciously good deals (steals even) on Craigslist in Chicago to say nothing of meeting some interesting people. The estate sale notices can lead to some GREAT deals too. Yes you have to keep your head about you. So what else is new. You gotta keep your head about you when you buy ANYTHING these days -> cars (new and used), snowblowers, knives, guns, computer gear, whatever.

I also admit to getting some KILLER deals on the BF Exchange.........................

I have picked up a few knives from there, but mostly older traditional from estate sales and such.

I prefer to buy used, but in good condition. I'm generally buying a knife to use so if it is already used then I try to save a little money on it. I occasionally buy new but I start carrying them right away so they quickly become used.

Yep, got a great deal on a BM 3550 this year. Sent in for tuning and sharpening. Just wish it was tip up carry. I figured this type would be harder to fake with quality/precision.

"Trust NO ONE" on CL. Whatever you are looking at may be stolen. If it is not a clone and is way under priced, it probably IS stolen, or a ruse to get you to where you can be robbed.
Always meet at a public place, in the daytime, when other people will be around.

Meet in like a Kmart parking lot. And at that price even as a fake it's still gonna be worth the price. Do you live in a generally good city or a not so good city (such as downtown lots Angelos)
