Cool. For some reason I didn't make the connection that Doc-Canada lived in Canada. Seems pretty obvious now.:) I guess if I get a turkey, I will make a post saying whoever wants the feathers can have them. Thanks for the good idea.

Guyon,

I see we think alike when it comes to deer rifles. Here is what I use on the rare occasions I get to go out. (deer hunting is so expensive here in Texas and you can't use centerfire rifles on the most of the public land in the state). It is a Marlin 336W in .30-30 with a Bushnell Trophy 1.75-4x32 scope attached.

If I ever go and I need to really reach out and touch something, I always have my left-handed Savage 111GL in .270 Win that I got in February. It will shoot five shot groups with the cheap 130 grain Winchester Super X loads inside 0.75 inches every time I take it out. It is easily the most accurate gun I have ever shot. If any of you gun nuts haven't had a chance to try the Accu-Trigger from Savage, give it a shot (no pun intended). It is awesome. The scope is a Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40.

How much blood and gore can we get away with in this thread?

I have no idea but I would say trolling is a lot like hunting, you stalk your prey and then just at the right moment you spring.

If hunting offends you, may I suggest not reading threads with titles that specifically ask people to show their hunting pictures.......DUH. Chris

DUH yourself. I asked because most of my hunting pics have blood/guts etc and some boards have tight policies on this. Not trolling at all. Now if we could get a cooler head to answer instead of accusations of trolling, I would appreciate it.;)

The 336 above has a 1-4x20 VX II on it. Where I'm taking it, there's not a shot over 50 yards, and you just don't need that much scope.

For my "reach out and touch something" occasions, I shoot .30 caliber guns (.308 and .30-06), but I've been thinking about the very gun you post above in the very same caliber. One, because I've never tried a Savage, and two, because I want a .270. Glad to hear you like yours so much.

Chris, I know you're probably defensive after being quizzed on varmint hunting, but I understood the guy to be asking about permissable levels of bloody photographs so that he could put up some hunting pics of his own.

goldeyeslayer, I think you'd be fine with whatever you want to post, as long as it doesn't involve torturing/disrespecting an animal. If your animal is dead but bloody, so be it. Still, if you're posting pics of gutpiles, I'd question why you took a picture of them in the first place.

Thanks for the reply. And the reason for the guts is that I was just too damn dumb to get the camera out before I started cuttin'.:o

Friends, we have members and visitors here of every ilk. Some of us are from a rural background and outdoor pursuits such as hunting and fishing are an important part of our heritage. Some have shown that they don't understand this since it has never been a part of thier lives, and consumption and conservation practices make no sense to them. IMHO, we have room for them here to learn if they wish to. But they do sometimes troll here. So this is the reason for the "chip-on-the-shoulder" response to this misconstrued question.

I believe that it makes good sense to show them some respect if we wish to be shown respect. Perhaps a moderator will post to give us some guidence, but I don't think it takes a lot of thought to know not to post overly graphic pictures here or on a hunting specific forum (which this is not).

My appologies to anybody I have offended. I simply didn't want to get banned for posting something offensive. After rereading the thread, I can see why Runningboar was a bit on edge.

Were going to my buddies pond now. Will shoot some ducks, and shoot some booze, as well. Spiked eggnog and coffee. And some gunplay, and knifeplay, if we get some ducks.

A Thanksgiving morning expedition is being launched as I post to go retrieve a large doe killed by my son-in-law this morning. This will be the fourth deer on my gambrel so far this year. And the fourth to be done up with the Becker Necker knife, aided by a venerable circa 1974 Schrade Sharpfinger when two knives can work at once without poking each other.

In spite of a late frost this spring which killed the mast crop (acorns), and a long spring/summer/fall drought which affected the browse, we are overpopulated in our deer herd and some serious thinning needs to be done in order to overwinter the herd in good shape.

goldeneyeslayer,
I apologize profusely for my response to your first post, I misunderstood what you were asking.

I just got out of the woods, we have a front moving through today and the wind is horrible so I didn't do any good, I think I will go coon hunting tonight though. Chris
