I sure do and I have to tell you something, I spoke to VG yesterday and he sure misses the contact and community and not being able to read or post here.

What's the problem?
His computer crapped out. Even with all of the help and prayers BFC has given to VG, things are still tight. VG is very grateful for everything everybody has done for him and I know he'd like to thank you all. If he had a computer he could be back online and in touch.

I'm not talking about taking up another collection or auctioning off knives, but somebody out there has to have a working computer that they're not using and could send to somebody that could really use it.

So please if you can help or have a suggestion on how to get him back with us it will be greatly appreciated.

I have a good pentium 4 with motherboard in a ram. the power supply is good too. all its lacking is a cdrom, a decent case and a hard drive if someone wants it to try and put something together.
 
I've got an extra 19" high res monitor.

Thanks Chuck for pointing people to this thread.

All VG really needs is a computer that can get him on the Internet. I don't think that VG even on his best day is going to be able to do any kind of computer repairs or upgrades. Keep in mind it's still hard for him to get around.

Gus the monitor would be great.

I've got a case I just stole the power supply out of and CD roms and Hard drives coming out of my.... well, I've got several of them.

I can come up with a keyboard and mouse too, and I've got some OEM Win 2K licenses I'll never use.

If SSBlood wants to send me his bits, I'll be glad to finish it off and get it working and send it on - Bastid can send the monitor straight to VG (after wiping the goat ick off of it).

This place has gone far too long without VG's particular brand of weirdness.

I have not really interacted with VG, but it is nice to see what y'all are doing. I have a question though. How is his place connected to the net? Will there be fees involved? If he cannot work, staying hooked up to the web may not be easy for him. If so, maybe we can also help here.

I should also say that, although I do not know the specifics, participating on the net with his friends may just be the best form of therapy for his recovery.

Shaldag, I don't think the connection is the problem right now, we need to get him the computer. If after he feels it's a problem affording his ISP, we'll take care of that.

I 100% agree with your second comment. I think getting him back online will be the best medicine he could get. I started this thread for exactly that reason. If I could afford right now to buy VG a computer I would. I can't, so I came here asking your for help. Knowing full well that the call would be answered by the good folks here.

Let me see if I understand the rest of the computer situation. It looks like all of the parts have been found, but someone (VideoJoe) has to put it all together, is that right?

SSblood and Andrew can you please get in touch with VideoJoe and get your parts to him? Any of you can contact me if there's any problems, my email is posted.

I was hoping we could find a computer all in one piece or an old laptop or something, but anything to get VG back with us would be a score.

I have an older Pentium machine about whose speed I have no idea, but with a 20meg hard drive (I think), a floppy drive, and a cd rom drive that has just come free in Arlington, VA, if it will help.

I was just wondering how VG was doing yesterday, and I do miss him :( I wish I had something to offer, sorry guys. Great job so far, he'll love it!
