Anybody out there a fan of vintage meat cleavers or lamb splitters???

even though they are a little commercial looking i am going to order them for this summers pig roast

Nothing wrong with them looking commercial. Just a sign that they mean business.

Work being done by K9-Handler.

Side by side old handle, and new handle.

Blade that's been wet sanded after being primed, had mucho corrosion.

Had to keep this thread going

Absolutely love cleavers.... Buy them every chance I get

Thinking about shelling out a small fortune for F. Dicks current production beef splitter- 16in blade, 18in handle.... At $350... A lot... But so tempting

Those Icels look awesome by the way... Do they make a beef splitter??

I'm pretty sure that F. Dick is the last production maker of them. I'm sure a sword smith could make one for just a little bit more money, though it wouldn't be stainless. When you think about how it's a stainless piece that big the thing suddenly seems inexpensive! :D I'm thinking of eventually having a sword smith make me a new hay knife. With all the dust and dirt in hay the improved wear resistance of modern steels would be a big help.

That's an interesting thought

I will probably end up getting one... Maybe in the next month or so

Will be something to hang on the wall to scare people :D
Really Want to see how it chops

Definitely- no one else has done it

I could imagine it has a heck of an intimidation factor

Kind of eager to order one

I'll be getting their Swiss cleaver at some point and will be sure to do a review whenever that is. :)

Swiss style cleavers have such a nice look to them

Especially Swiss beef splitters... But so much money...

If you are familiar with mineral mountain hatchet works their paramedic axe looks like a Swiss beef splitter

I have two used orginal meat splitters with long handles for sale. These have the long handles, not in good shape, used previously in slaughter house over 50 years ago.

That's nice and all, but you may want to remove the mention of them being available--you can't sell on here without an appropriate level of paid membership. Welcome to the forums!
