I voted no preference as I carry my SAK and a single blade, wharncliffe slip joint daily. I am thankful I do not have to choose only one knife!!

I tend to carry and prefer single blade knives. Even when I first got into traditionals the knives that caught my attention where single blades such as the Buck 110, 55, 501, Solitaire, Sodbuster, opinels, Svord and GEC 73 to name a few. I usually have a larger modern blade like a Buck Vantage as well as a slipjoint riding in my pocket so the need for a multi blade slipjoint isn't really there. The single blade slippie is just simple to me, no decisions to be made on what blade to pull on the slipjoint. Since I have a hard enough time deciding on which knife to carry for the day it makes the rest of the day decision free:D That said though, the GEC two blade Boys knife has seen some serious carry time as of late, it's pretty sweet and about the only multi blade I carry as of late.

This thread needs pics. I'm off for a long weekend and this is the only knife I'm taking.

I have to say both.

I like Single blade and multi blades. Normally both types are in my pockets at the same time.

Often, I have a big single blade lock back, and several traditionals.

Right now? J. Oeser large gunstock jack, an Opinel #7, Large one hand opening lock back (Ignore that please), and a large AG Russell sodbuster.

My selection is limited, because I am on vacation, and I flew. I sent the J. Oesser ahead, and the rest I just packed in my luggage for the flight. That is why I don't have all the selection.

History disagrees with you. Single blade knives are very traditional. Check out these knives that were in the steamship Arabia when it sank in the Missouri River in 1856. Plenty of single blade slipjoints in attendance.

I meant these days. True before the modern one hand opening knife their were obviously single blade folders. The original traditional was most likely a single blade. But today, the single blade one hand opening knife is by far the most popular single blade style.

I can't really partake in the poll because I go back and forth between 2 blade jacks and single blade knives for my edc rotation.

I feel the same. It's not that I have 'no preference', just that my preference changes depending on what I'm going to be doing that day, how I'm dressed, the weather, and what I fancy! :)

Depends how much other stuff is in my pockets.

Empty pockets, fat Camillus.

Full pockets, skinny Mercator.

I'm weird. I strongly prefer the look of a single blade traditional knife. I think the Case swayback gent with a Wharncliffe blade is the best looking traditional I've ever seen. Having said that, I don't currently own one. I would buy one in a heartbeat if I had the extra cash right now, but its not an option, unfortunately.

I usually carry a SAK or a 2 bladed knife of one sort or another.

I'm going to be difficult and vote "no preference" while really having a preference. To me it all depends on the pattern. Right now my two favorite knives are my #15 Boys Knife and my chestnut bone peanut in CV. I purposely sought out and purchased a single bladed Boys knife because it is what appeals to me in this pattern, however I couldn't imagine life with a single bladed peanut. I think the bigger the knife is the more I prefer a single blade, but that might not be right either. It's more about the pattern and an aesthetic.

I don't remember how I voted. Multi I think. What I really want is a single blade multiblade fixed blade folder that disappears weightlessly in my pocket and is 3 inches and 4 ft long in the blade. Paging Dr Who.
It's hard for me to go out without something in the SAK or scout line, but I like two-bladers too, for variety and back-up. And Stockmans. So I guess multi is right.

I like both of them. As many others, it depends on what I wanna do and what I´m almost carrying in my pockets. So my vote goes to both versions of knives.

Single blade knives are really pretty traditional in general. Especially when I look at the traditional german/european knives from the past (old patterns).

I think I do prefer a single blade, most of my folders are this type, even my SAKs!

When I have a two bladed knife I prefer and equal end, and not a jack configuration.

Single blade for me, too. But I must say I'm surprised by the poll results because I thought most preferred multibladed knives.

I voted 'No Preference' and suddenly remembered that my most used knives atm, are a sod buster and a Buck 112. :o

coolest picture I've seen in a long time

got any more?

I do usually go for single blade pocket knives but I'm realy loving a northwoods scagle #12 I picked up recently

I tend to prefer 1 or 2 blades jacks, currently my preference is for the single blade

Mike

Same. Out of all the pocketknives I own, only a few have more than two blades, and I rarely carry them. I don't have a huge preference between one and two bladed knives and own many of both (depends more on the overall pattern), but little interest in knives with more.

A 2 blade trapper is typically the way I go--one blade I use for food, the other for everything else/ utility. I have some traditionals with single blades and like them just fine... but two just work better than one for me.

I agree about the pic. If I had those in front of me, I highly doubt I could resist fondling each and every one of them. :foot:
