Anybody use a Double Edge or Straight Razor

Yep, straight and double for years w/ 'Feather' and 'Bolzano' blades... love it! As far as creams, etc.. two words; Truefitt & Hill... that is all.

i would love to get a straight razor. i just havent pulled the trigger yet. there is an Art of Shaving about 2 hours from me at a huge mall, i think im going there to get a shave soon.

I am in agreement with the post regarding feather blades. They are perfect for me, as their sharpness appears to be unrivaled by other DE blades. I will eventually get another straight as I have procured all of the sharpening implements and strops now, initially had no resources to maintain my straights. Now I do, and will venture back to that later. But yes, DE and Straights all day everyday before disposable cartridge razors or electric razors.

You sir, are my hero! (Shows wife)

I use my Gillette's. Both the Slim and The Fatboy adjustables and shaving has never been better. When you can use razors made in the 50's that haven't been touched in the last 35 yrs. and they pimp slap the Mach3's and whatever else is out there.....you know you're doing something right.

I'll eventually pick up a straight razor and have at it. But right now I am fine. I've only been using the DE for maybe 7 months, it's incredible to be able to either dial up or dial down the blade to whatever I want.

Once you go DE or straight razor there is no going back and really....why would you? 100 DE blades for around $6-7 something like that if I remember right.

I found a 1974 Gillete Black Beauty Adjustable at a garage sale for $5. The great buys are out there.

Great find! My father in law turned me on to his old Gillette Slim adjustable and I couldn't believe the difference. Picked up a Fatboy from someone I know for $40.....not bad at all IMO. :) I'll do some research on the one you have.

My black beauty long handle adjustable is the only DE that I use anymore (when I use a DE). It is great. Oh, before I got the black beauty I used a fatboy that I found for 5$ at a closing down antique shop.

here is my EDB.(every day blade)
i got them in a group buy over at theshaveden several months back $20shipped for 200ct

I have a merkur futur and love it. Great safety razor with the ability to adjust the blade exposure to fine tune your shave.

vance, i am jealous of 2 things you have, first, the rolls razor... it you have the handle for it I'm missing mine and I really want to use it but can't w/out the handle, I'm close to trying to make one. The second is that old spice bottle, I have the old spice shave mug (actually I have found 2), but not the glass bottle

I found a 1963 Gillette adjustable at a garage sale last week for a quarter. Cleaned up like new. :)

what is that white stuff you guys use ?
I just use water :)

But I only shave my neck and cheeks :)

PM me your address & ill send you the bottle...gotta hang onto the rolls though

I'm a recent convert to DE shaving (even though my very first shave was with one - I used cartridge razors thereafter).

One day I might work my way up to a straight razor, but not until I've broken my coffee addiction!

I use an Edwin Jagger DE89 razor and I'm experimenting with blades to figure out what works for me. I definitely must get a better brush though... urgently!
