Anybody use the tw 90 Wuertz grinder

I apologize if I have missed anyone's email or have been delayed in response. I should start shipping next week (just bear in mind that's close to 50 orders in the first run). The attachments for the grinders other than mine will be a little longer since they will require an additional arm to operate safely in the vertical position.
I'm improving my grinding/video area so i can make better user DVD's and simplify making quick how to videos as needed.

I plan on doing: Basic SGA operation, TW-90 operation and tips and tricks, A method of making an integral, surface grinding titanium.

I can only do 15 minutes clips and don't want to edit (prefer real time videos). Let me know if there's any thing in particular that I should try to include. I have to do videos anyway.

The SGA's will come with a user's DVD and will cover basic operation and setup out of the box.

Have any of you guys heard back from Travis?? no doubt he is swamped, but i emailed him asking to be
put down for a sga,and never heard back?

I'd definitely like to see at least one video showing the attachment on a KMG, or at
least as it would have to be used on a KMG.

I got my TW-90 grinder running this week. I must say, it is everything I expected and more. I have a Wilton Square wheel, Burr King, JL, and a Dozier grinder. The TW-90 is by far the best. It is extremely well designed. Travis must have really studied the existing grinders when he designed his.
The TW-90 runs extremely smooth, the tracking is precise. It's a real pleasure to use.

I was hoping that someone with a TW90 could do me a favor and give me the measurements of the grinder. I'm making space in my workshop and need to know how much of a footprint the TW90 is going to take up on my bench. I'm looking for the width of the machine (in horizontal), depth (from front of machine to back wall) and the height. Measurements to the nearest inch would be fine. Thanks much. Jess

He has some new videos up

Yes, the video on the BIII answers all my KMG questions. Well, except for the price...
it looks like BIII and KMG require the new modified tooling arm as an extra part so I
assume they'll cost more than the TW90 version.

Not that it matters all that much. I still plan to get one. DROOOLLLL!

For grinder footprint, I'd allow for 24" square. It ships in a 24" cubed box. When I set up stands for shows or my own shop, I use a stand from Lowe's or Enco and bolt the grinder through a peice of 3/4" plywood. I mount the grinder and plywood flush with the right edge of the stand and holesaw 3-4 holes for the attachment. This keeps everything pretty organized. With minimal table space, less junk accumulates on the table. The stand from Lowe's is only like $60. I like them enough to reccomend them and use one myself. It's just about right height for me at 6'2". Mounting to a bench is of course fine too, I just find that the bigger the flat space the more junk gathers there. The stand is made by kobalt. I will be getting another soon, when I do I'll try to remember to post the part number before I burn the box.

I just wanted to poke my head in and give a little personal experience. My TW90 showed up last week and I got it up and running over the weekend (needed to run power to it). This machine is very well built and will do more than I can imagine. I can't get over how quiet it is. Travis was a pleasure to deal with. He is a stand up guy and would always be available to answer my questions (and I had plenty).

Did not read the other posts so if this has been covered ... Oh well :)
I have a KMG and have been using it for around 6+ yrs ... Great grinder that does what it is made for. Easy to use versatile Etc
However that being said: I have known Travis for at least 10yrs and before making the grinders he was/is a great knifemakerl. To me that speaks volumes because he understands what we need first hand.
IMO it helps a great deal to be a "Knifemaker" who builds and designs grinders. Not taking away anything from the KMG as it is a very good machine backed with great service.
Got to try out the TW grinder at my last show here in Phoenix and it is slick!
Tight- top of the line bearings- ease of opertion and smooth as a Hardcore, combined actual value is around 10-12k if you bought all the machines seperately
. Believe his price is just over 3K
Think of it this way compairing a Chevrolet VS a Porche in smoothness, performance and versatility...
My next grinder will be a TW

I'm going to call this thread back into action.

After better than a half year of saving I put in my order last week. Travis was very friendly and as with my previous conversations, very helpfull with all my questions. To close the conversation I told him I couldn't wait for the grinder to arrive because it'd be like Christmas.

Yesterday the FedEx guy arrived and informed me he had three big boxes for me. As I walked outside he apologized for the wrapping paper getting torn in transit.

I was very confused about what he was trying to say until he opened the doors to the truck and I saw three big boxes all dressed up in Christmas wrapping paper.

In a moment of cheeky inspiration, Travis decided to take my "it'll be like Christmas" statement literally and wrapped my present up for me!

Well played Travis. Well played indeed! ;)

On another note, four posts in four years; you sure have something to say when you do post. We want to hear more!
