Anyone carry a knife while running?

I carry my native clipped in my pocket while I run. Don't even notice it's there, even during sprints. I have had no trouble with sweat, but I try to remember to rinse it off after workouts, but sometimes I forget. Still it's my go to.

My Momma told me not to run with knives.

Still, on the rare occasion that I jog, I drop a Salt I into whatever pocket I can find. Smaller and less annoying than my phone, but I somehow find a spot for that, too. And a AA or AAA light.

A Ti neck knife strapped to your weak arm bicep would be pretty bad-a$$.

Running outdoors and swimming is the only time I carry spyderco's salt series ,either pacific or my modded Atlantic wharnie.

I carry my Para2 clipped in the pocket of my shorts. Don't even notice its there, never had a problem with rust. Very comfortable.
Comforting when those suirrels start to look at me funny!

I have to chime in here, and I would like to mention that under extreme stress, ie a life threatening situation, (compounded by the physical exertion of running) your fine motor skills deteriorate. That means you will most likely not be able to properly, quickly, and safely open a folder. You might drop your knife or cut your thumb to the bone. I would have to recommend a fixed blade. Of course, with proper training, this can be overcome, but it is a constant ongoing training. Have you considered some if the "CIA letter opener" types of knives? You can stab with them, but you can't cut yourself with them. Cold Steel makes a variety of them under the Nightshade series. They are very light, you can also even use some first aid tape to tape one in a convenient spot, like your forearm or bicep.

The military/SWAT etc train to overcome this, by doing the physical exertion, HTH combat, and then shooting. The adrenaline and physical exertion will degrade your fine motor skills. Try running and then spar a bit with a buddy, and then try to safely retrieve and open your folder (PLEASE tape the blade up before trying this!!!), go so far as to slash/stab at a specific target area or line on a cardboard target, and you will see that it is not as easy as you think.

I certainly understand the limits of fine motor control under stress. I will say that I have in no way trained as much as I should to utilize my knife under stressful conditions. I do try to draw it on the move after being out for a while from time to time. Something I should definitely focus more on. The fixed blade I sometimes carry is no less comfortable. It certainly isn't discreet in running clothes however. Wouldn't draw too many looks on the trail-and if it does, who cares? That being said, I would carry it running through the middle of town in the heat with a tech t.

I carry a light, thin knife in my waistband and a light, thin pistol in my pocket when I run. And my phone. And my wallet. And a spare mag.

Then again I wear cargo shorts when I run.

This must be very uncomfortable, not to mention hot. Doesn't it get baggy and restrictive?

Griptilian clipped to inside wasted band OK n the small of my back. Can't feel it and don't need pockets. That is about the only time I carry a folder.

I suggest something like a Delica or a Skyline

+1 for the Skyline. I have been trail running for 5 or so years and whenever I run long or on a new trail I just clip it to the inside of my shorts. Sometimes I feel it after a while and move it a bit, other times I hear it in the banging in the dryer cuz I forgot about it. As far as fatigue and survival skills to go along with it, well to each his own. I prefer light and fast.

The little blue guy in this pic, is my Daniel fairly TIBOK. Weighs nothing, won't rust, can cut or stab. I wear it as a necker and so long as its under my shirt I never notice it while running. I was so sold on this I bought two of his TI backpackers for the same purpose, ie mountain biking, hiking, rafting. General rigorous sweaty activity.

I've been asked this ALOT because I'm a 50+mi/ week runner when i get the chance, i say at the very least have a pen knife and some mace with you. I'm 6'-4" 175LB physically fit and Military & i carry a 0.75oz can of mace just in case, mainly for stray dogs. Visually you can tell its not wise to F*** with me, but the scout in me would rather be prepared than anything else

this is my usual set up for protection, fixed blade is in a quick accessible kydex sheath tenacious in my pocket and the mace in a joggin strap around my hand

I HATE running, but I've got to do it a few times a week as part of my training. When I'm at my club's track I only carry one of my Spyderco H-1 folders, either a Tasman, Spyderhawk or Pacific (the latter being my usual choice). On the rare occasions when I run cross-country, I carry a small hydration pack in which I have a small FAK, a multitool, torch, plus my keys, phone , wallet and other stuff I don't want flopping around in my pockets. It's quite compact (10 litres) and the chest and waist straps keep it from moving around.
