Anyone carry a knife while running?

ya the hydration pack is a life saver, i only wear mine when im going 10+mi: that set up is a WHOLE nother story haha...... I'm not a fan of running either but i gotta keep my cardio and lower legs in shape.... i have 2 bottles that are 1L each and curve to the back of my hips, kinda dorky lookin but i forget they are there at times love em

I gotta start running when the weather gets decent... But I normally carry all my normal edc when I go out running. I do it because I have to run occasionally when I'm at work (where I have like 15+lbs of crap on me), so I like to have a little weight on me. I usually have my Leatherman Juice and whatever knife I decide to take. Normally it's the Spyderco Cat or Ambitious.

The only thing I take that I normally don't have on me is a water bottle. I have a plastic flask that I can put in my cargo pocket without bothering much.

+ how ever many

For the Spyderco Pacific Salt or Salt 1. Not just for rust resistance but just as importantly they are considerably lighter than an Endura 4 even though they have the same blade length. The Salt series uses the old Endura/Delica 3 design which lacks the steel liners. They are also thinner than an Endura 4 or in the case of the Salt 1, the Delica 4.

+1 on the salt 1.

but i just lost mine so now i carry another lightweight knife. The Kershaw skyline.

I am back in the market for a Spyderco salt 1 however. Great all around vacation knife for beach. pool ect.. and not to expensive to lose.

why do you wait til the weather gets decent??? The best runs you can do are in S*** weather, it helps with the endurance and personal ability to stick things through, that and if you camp hike or hunt it heightens your endurance and tolerances while doing those activities when the weather goes poot .

Its easy to run 5 mi when its sunny and 80 degrees out, its a completely different task when its 35 degrees and or raining.... just putin that you there

If I ever have to run in 35* rain, I'm screwed anyway. If the government wants to write me a check again, then maybe :D

GOV. has nothing to do with that choice haha i voluntarily do that

I'm no forced marine, hooyah!

I run all the time with my knives. If it's a ligher one, like my CRKT eros (LOVE IT!), I won't even notice it. But even a para2 or something I'll just stick in my waistband and run with it. Just got to make sure it doesn't get all sweaty. But yeah I agee with you, sticking it in the waistband is the most comfortable solution I've ever come across with

I always carry one, whatever I have in my pants pocket I tuck in the waist band appendix carry style when I change to gym clothes and its there for the weights and the jog after

I only run with scissors.
haha, pointing up????

on that same note, i have a friend reading over my shoulder and saw the title, this was the conversation in short:

"Run with a knife???? Ya you should always run with a knife, it makes you run faster!"
"um faster? your adding more weight, how does it make you faster??"
"Well, obviously you have never played COD, you always have your knife out when you run 'cuz you go much more faster!"

He is an idiot at times but, ya gotta love him for it

Used to clip an Endura into my waistband when I went running outside. Sold the Endura and haven't replaced it.

I run with a orange skyline. Bright so if i drop it. light in the waistband. Frog lube after to clean it up and prevent rust.

I carry when I work out on my own: lift, bike, or run. Just not during formal PT. I carry a para 2 now, thin and lights enough even for my small/medium frame (5'11" 165 lbs).

One of the Fallkniven's F1 lives in my hydration pack so it goes with me, mostly by accident. When I go trail running or a light hike, I carry a Benchmade Barrage 580. It's mainly because I have a 5 and a 2 year old that like to go with me and there seems to be a growing pit bull culture here in San Diego. The Barrage is easy for me to carry and if I were to have to snap it open, it would get the dog owners attention.

my running is usually in areas where cell phone reception often sketchy to nil, so in addition to letting someone know where I'll be running and when I'm expected to be done- I always carry a small Spyderco Ladybug, whistle, photon, headlamp, small firestarting kit, small fak, TP, heatsheet, water and some calories- along w/ a windshirt, beanie, buff and gloves

if I'm running in the mountains or in winter, my kit is expanded (and the pack gets bigger :))

I had to discontinue running some years ago, but if I still did, I would likely carry a Salt 1 in my hand. It's light, thin and small enough to be discreet in your hand, not to mention it's sweat-proof.
