Anyone else buy band-aides since they started collecting knifes?

Last time I got any bandaids was from @Michael Dye of New Graham knives, here's a shot of my 5.11 bag poured out onto my kitchen table, the pack of bandaids are seen in the lower left side of the photo, they've lasted a very long time and usually are issued to the folks at work when they get cut, myself I tend to be a little more cautious ;)

I'm clumsy. I keep bandaids everywhere around the house, in my car, in my wife's car, in the storage shed...everywhere.

Ernie Emerson used to package a few Bandaids in the box with his knife....and I needed it, too....cut myself and didn't know it until the blood started to flow...

If you own and use knives, you will cut yourself eventually. Band aides are standard first aid equipment for small cuts. Get some they last a while.

I like how New Graham sends you band aides with each knife purchase. They are a little small for most things, but better than nothing.

I'm gonna stash some in my Wicked Edge GO sharpening kit. Tagged myself yesterday on a very fresh edge, wile the blade was still in the clamp, and had to scramble to find some.

I carry band-aides in my wallet and need them occasionally and also give them to those in need at the range or other places. I recently taught my grandson to free hand his scout knife. I gave him 2 stones, honing oil, a book on sharpening and a box of band-aides. Haven't seen him using the band-aides yet but he will sooner or later.

I rarely needed or bought band aids. Now it seems I need one with every new knife I buy. It seems as I learn the new acquisition ....how it opens, how the lock disengages, how snappy it closes, etc it will bite me once at some point till I get used to it.

Liquid band aid is the way to go. I service pools so band aid no go. A cut and pools dont mix.

I've only cut myself twice.

16 years ago on a Katana that resulted in a trip to the ER.
4 years ago on someone else's "assisted opening" knife. Big 5 was closing out those HK branded knives that were made by....Benchmade or something of the sort. He couldn't open it smoothly and asked me to figure it out. It would spring open a small amount and then need to be opened the rest of the way. Well, I tried doing it all in one motion and my thumb when straight to the edge of the knife. Pretty bad one.

^^^^ Ouch.

So from this thread I have learned of the cut miracle that is crazy glue. Yesterday my knuckle banged into my titanium clip as my knife sat in my pocket and took off a chunk of skin. It wasn't really a bleeder, just very sensitive with the lightest brush against anything. Rather than wrapping my knuckle in a band aid, I dropped some Gorilla Glue on the sensitive area. Today my knuckle feels like $100. I'm a convert.

Maybe that's because you had a $100 bill in your pocket when you stuck your hand in with gorilla glue on it. ;) falar, watch those katana, they are epic flesh cutters; too often our own (trust me, I know). Fun thread, thanks OP.

Big fan of liquid bandages... not a huge fan of the immediate sting
Ah, when my daughter was about 3yrs old, she split her chin open like the adventurous person she was and still is. The brave little thing came to A&E with me, impressing the nurses with her stoicism. Until she felt that sting...:(

A few months later she split the skin over her cheekbone and it was a wee bit challenging to get her to A&E. Then she managed to open the same cut again, and had to have it glued again. Poor little thing. She now regards herself as a medical glue veteran. ;)

I’ve got some powder from China somewhere which is simply called “Stop Bleeding Powder”. It comes with a single pill which I strongly suspect to be some sort of amphetamine. It works very well but if you think liquid skin stings, don’t ever try that powder! No idea what it is made from, and I had to import it from Hong Kong. Yeah, I’m weird. Medical glue is a safer bet in my view. :D
