Anyone else carry inside the waistband?

I sometimes do that, I used to do it a lot more but I'm more picky about which knives I will try it with these days, just out of an abundance of caution and a desire not to have a thumbstud snag turn into a fillet'o'cheek or anything. A Native lightweight is pretty much exactly the right kind of knife to wear like that, it has enough butt above the clip to work with the retrieval process, it's not too long so it shouldn't interfere with your sitting or anything, it has a strong enough closing bias and a lack of things to get caught that it likely will never start opening without your involvement.

I carry my Benchmade folder with pocket clip removed, and a flashlight on my hip in a horizontal leather pouch from Knives ship free.

It gets mistaken as a glasses case.
Also some nerds from IT carry their phones that way, so I kinda blend in...

I carry other stuff IWB

Occasionally I carry my Buck 110 Sport pro IWB especially if I’m driving a lot. When I sit and my 110 is clipped in my pocket it works it’s way up and sometimes out of my pocket. Then I tried it In the waste band and it stays put and it’s still easy to get to and in hand when I need it. With a larger knife it does help.

Im starting to carry in my back pocket but as much to the front as possible, mostly to avoid keys. UKPK or Quiet Carry drift. no pocket lint issue yet. (I dont use a wallet. Its all on my phone 9 cards ID etc)

I don't wear a belt, unless absolutely necessary, and I also keep a pistol IWB so that's out for the knife. However, I do IWB a knife late at night on my way to the bathroom or kitchen in my underwear lol! Yes I'm well aware that I'm eccentric and ridiculous.
Now that’s commitment

When im in scrubs, I generally do not carry. However on my days off, yes its inside the waistband, crk on the right and 707 on the left.

This got me to thinking, we've used the pocket clip for so long because it's such a practical and easy way to carry a knife, but I wonder if someone set their mind to it, could an even better way to carry be invented?

While there is and always will be a place for it, I'm less interested in the newest, flashiest steel in the same old knife and more interested in something new and innovative right now. How do you improve upon what we have without making it needlessly more complex?

The advice from my lawyer is that I would never do such a thing. I'm much more likely to also certainly not carry it inside my pocket.

I’ve done it with pocketless gym shorts but it’s not really something I like. IWB is where my pistol rides and my knives ride in pockets.

I should point out that in the slacks like I pictured in the first post, the slit, for the pocket is mostly vertical. That means that a knife clipped in there tries to go horizontal, which is not comfortable when I put my hand in.

My EDC is a Leatherman Wave. It either rides clipped to a pocket, or it lives in a belt pouch worn horizontally. I prefer the belt pouch for better weight distribution and ease of deployment.

The horizontal carry, behind the right hip, while not deep pocket concealment is unobtrusive and draws no attention when casually dressed or even when I wear a formal suit.

Necessity is the mother of all invention.....?
If you look at the federal prison system, they rarely use clips on their knives, yet they carry them around , and use them effectively.

Maybe you could try those tactical strategies? 😳

I carry a Pacific salt in the waistband of my swim trunks sometimes. And I have been known to carry a Matriarch similarly in gun free zones.

How does a pistol iwb with no belt work?

not very well - at least for me.

its not comfortable for me with a knife IWB. knife goes in the right front pocket - along with car keys, which are push button start these days and only need to be with me, not taken out hardly ever. The only other thing in that pocket (sometimes) is a small flashlight or smaller knife. I also don't walk around or stand around with my hands in my pocket, so thats not an issue either.
