Anyone else dislike pocket clips?

I've lost both clipped and non-clipped knives from my pocket, so to me it's a wash. The only type of knife I would require a clip would be a tactical folder - and I no longer carry one of those.

I usually don't use pocket clips, but I do if the knife is in the realm of 4.25 ounces or heavier

For me it really depends on the knife. I have a few folders that don't come with clips and frankly, I don't miss not having a clip. On the other hand, I appreciate having a pocket clip on a small lightweight folder.

For the most part I remove the clip right away when I get a new knife. I don't like advertising that I am carrying. I make and use lanyards to make these knives easily accessible in my pocket. I also feel like the clips interfere with how I like to hold the knife for the most part. If I was using the knife for work of some type, then I'd use the clip - can't beat it for easy, quick access but for my purposes, I like the lanyard sitting right at the top corner of my pocket. Good question!

My hand is sort of forced on this issue, since it's more or less completely illegal to carry a clipped knife in NYC. Honestly, I grew up with a SAK bouncing around in my pocket so that's just how I've always carried knives.

I love pocket clips. I carry inside-the-waistband at 5-o'clock.
A pocketknife with a clip carried in a pocket drives me crazy too - it totally get in the way when I reach for my keys in one pocket, or a tissue in the other. And moving those is not an option.

I dislike badly designed pocket clips, and love ones that are well designed, and do what they where designed to without messing up the actual feel/use of the knife.

This too. I love Spyderco's clips but hate some of Kershaw's clips. (looking at you, Junkyard Dog)

I keep my knives clipped for that very reason. . . . I have made it a habit to feel for my knife every time I stand up now.

Yet another reason I prefer to carry my folders unclipped. Having faith as I do in the law of gravity and not having to concern myself that an exposed piece of metal might snag on something and cause my knife to silently slip away, I'm able to free my mind from the gnawing sensation that, one day, I'll reach down and find that my knife has gone the way of so many others with no one to blame but myself.

I hate pocket clips but without one the knife just bounces around loosely in the pocket picking up debris and lint. I think it's an adequate compromise. If a pair of pants has a coin pocket with sufficient space and tension then I'll put the knife there.

These threads always seem to come up don't they?

I'll say what I always do...... IWB carry!

It works perfectly for me, has never resulted in a lost knife, and is much more discrete than clipped-to-the-pocket carry

I remove any pocket clip that's on a knife I buy. And I also remove the built-in key-chain ring on Swiss Army knives with snips and a grinding disk.

Others can do as they like.

Situational for me..... it all depends on the knife, and the style of the clip. Each knife I own has only certain pairs of pants/shorts that it will actually work comfortably with, I find the way the pockets are sewn and designed has quite a bit to do with how the knife feels in a deep carry role..... I have some that feel great deep in pocket with certain jeans, and the very same knife carries too bulky and horizontally trapped under everything in a different pair. Likewise for clipped carry..., some clip on with the right amount of tension and hand room to access your pocket items, where the same knife on a different pair of pants clips less effectively and proves to be cumbersome. Each day I wake up, get dressed, and choose an edc blade that works with those jeans.....I have a deep carry, and a clipped carry for each pair of jeans I own. I also find switching up deep carry with clip carry helps out the life span of your pocket.

Not even hooked by your shirt and launched into the toilet?
I'm sure it's horrifying to hear a dude in the next stall suddenly start swearing.

Dear lord! Let's hope THAT never happens:eek:

So far so good, though;)
