Anyone else hate doing gun & knife shows?

Sorry you feel bad about the things some people posted in reply to your topic, but that is what is going to happen in a place like this. Everyone will post what they really feel. There isn't going to be any sugar coating. If you don't have a thick skin, this place can sometimes get to you.

And you may ESPECIALLY feel put upon if you think every comment is addressed to you personally, as opposed to general observations to anyone who might come to this thread with thoughts of selling at a show.

I wouldn't take it personally. All anyone know about you is what you posted.

Many of the comments, I thought, were general. I found Gollnicks checklist particularly helpful and thought it was addressed to everyone, really.

The thing about the stool is particularly good!--gotta remember that one!

You may have hit on something--I'm really just an introvert and I have little patience for the great unwashed. Plus, I can't stand the waste in effort of hauling in tons of inventory, then hauling 90% of it back out. It's very inefficent.

I think I'll be selling out of the antique stores and other stores for now.

But I darned sure won't come back HERE looking to commiserate, or get support, or cry on anyone's shoulders. Y'all are mean. You made a rough day even worse.

1. Sometimes gun shows are a total waste of time....sometimes they are not...it depends upon far too many variables to ever try and figure out. It is indeed a VERY inefficient way to do business...but it can be a lot of fun.

2. If you are an introverted personality, it is probably not the environment for you to be comfortable in.

3. Get to know us first, before you write us off...you will find it to be a VERY large community of supportive people, but we don't generally show a lot of that support to every person coming by for the first time...and many of us ARE mean:).

Sett...

I am a young man, but I've worked retail in a few high-populous places here in Miami: grocery stores, fast food (not eally retail) and Apple (the past few years since iPods have been NUTS). Some of the customers really DO make for terrible experiences. It does certainly help if you are a bit of an extrovert, though.

I go to shows to become more educated, not necessarily in terms of history, etc (though I value that as well), but more so because buying a gun/knife for carry is a very personal thing. I want to be able to feel and grasp what I'm thinking of purchasing. I may not buy it from a deal at a show, but I just might if the price is within reason (based on what I can find it for online, if it's something that is so beautiful/striking (in terms of customs) that I can't pass it up, or if I'm just blown away by the customer service.

Here in Miami there aren't too many places to get your hands on a Busse or Fehrman. Those are expensive knives, and I'm not comfortable shelling out the funds without first at least seeing how it feels to me. For me, a show can be a very informative experience. I think if people go into the experience with open eyes and clear expectations, it will be good, regardless of the humps you meet while there.
