Anyone else want to see more made in the H-1 Steel? Or just me..

Nice ^^:)

I want a yellow handled full SpyderEdge stretch in H1

Honestly it seems like a no brainer to me but I guess we can't have everything (unless its requested enough) ;)

Yes please!

I received a FSE black handled Salt 1 a couple of weeks ago and love it! It is the smoothest opening lock-back I have ever owned. I wanted to give the full serration version a try and I haven't encountered a time where I wanted a plain edge yet. In my uses I do not see any advantage of the PE over the FSE, not even when slicing paper or cardboard. I'm even considering the pointy tip mod, but it really is fine the way it is.

Love the H1!

I'm still hoping they will do another run of the Aqua Salt, it took me awhile to find this one, naturally I over paid but I waited too long to pass it up.

Ehhhh Jack60 ~~ you have my Knife ~~ and here I thought I lost it.! lol
I have at least one of every H1 out because I go to my Sisters in North Carolina as many times in a year as I can and while I am there ~~ there Boat is mine.!! What a Sis..!**^^^

Glad to see you have a good family bond, been looking for this one to pop up for almost two years now, she's not going anywhere :)

can you elaborate?

It's essentially a specialized steel for those who want a rust-proof knife. Spyderco already offers so many models in H-1. It's pretty amazing I think. I'm surprised the demand is there. I would think that most people who don't need a rust-proof knife would look at a liner-less folder and say no thanks, I'll take one with steel liners.
Personally I like the H-1 line-up and appreciate how lightweight they are. Can't say I wish there were more though. ;)
I carried an H-1 Pacific Salt with me for a couple sections along the Appalachian Trail and I'll bring it again this year.

I would own a Stretch already if it came in H1. Plain or serrated, I'm not too picky.

Se h1 holds it's own and even excels when compared to most any steel. And plain edge isn't bad at all. Takes a razor sharp edge and is a very tough steel. I look at h1 as just a great steel, period. The fact that it won't rust is a bonus. It happens to be important to me since I'm on the water all the time, but I often recommend the steel to anyone and everyone based on its merits regardless of their need for corrosion resistance.

As far as liners...I prefer the linerless salts to the delica and endura. I find them to be every bit as tough, and every single one of mine have smoother action and less blade play than their counterparts that come with liners and bushings. Just my experience.

Second most carried knife definitely a user. Never understood all the hate, it's edge retention is good as far as I'm concerned. Sharpens easy and gets razor sharp. Long live H1!

I have a Tasman salt and Atlantic salt. Both with the yellow frn handles. I'm a commercial diver so I have my one Atlantic salt with me all the time. These are the knives for the job, ridiculously sharp,I have cut numerous lines, pried with it and it's still as good as when I bought it. No rust on it whatsoever after diving in salt water for extended amounts of time. Love it. The only thing is I wish it didn't open so easily Idk how many times I've come up and my knife is open and that's with a hair tie that I put around it to keep it secured.I'm thinking I'm gonna get one of the Caspian s next.

I'd definitely pick this one up if it were re-released :)

You have the old models with pinned construction? The new salts come with adjustable pivot screw so you can tighten or loosen until it's where you want it.

I haven't used my serrated Pacific Salt enough to comment on the edge holding. I've read many accounts of the impressive edge holding of serrated H1.
There seems to be less agreement on the edge holding of the plain edged H1. Some time ago, I sold my Aqua Salt because the edge was rolling when carving hardwood. Now I'm curious again so I ordered a plain edge Pacific Salt. I'll experiment more with different edge angles and finishes.

So maybe the PE Pacific Salt can only cut through 130 pieces of hemp rope.....and not the 300+ of super steels. Or hundreds of cuts through cardboard. It sharpens very easy and fast. It is a great steel, and imho, the fact it won't rust makes it a super steel.

Actually I had a pe dfly salt that had very poor edge retention and was prone to rolling. I kind of wrote off pe h1 after that but I recently purchased a salt 1 in pe and it's edge retention is actually quite decent...NOTHING like the dragonfly. Work hardening is an interesting process. I certainly don't fully understand the process, but I'm sure that the hardening can vary from knife to knife. I haven't had enough plain edge salts to say anything about consistency, but I know they're not all the same. On the other hand, every se h1 knife I have owned has been excellent in that regard. Both pe and se h1 get extremely sharp with very little effort too.

I have had three. I gave a dragonfly salt to my brother (he loves it)and traded the Salt 1. I carry my Pacific salt or Grip H20 if I think I am going to get wet or it is super humid out. Thats enough rust proof knives for me.

I fully agree with this. Some people believe that unless you really need a knife that's rustproof, it's better not to choose an H1 knife, which to me doesn't make a lot of sense. H1 has that rustproof characteristic, but as Surfgringo says, H1 holds its own, especially in SE. I barely go into the ocean anymore, but I still favor H1.

Once I accidentally dropped my D'fly Salt 2 SE tip-first onto a hard floor, and the very tip bent to the side. I used the Sharpmaker to gently work it out, by stroking the blade away, rather than into, one of the white rods at a very low angle, and very quickly straightened the tip with no sign of weakness, nor that it had ever been bent at all. I've never experienced any other steel where I could do this...any other steel's pointy tip would have just chipped off.

I find my H1 knives very useful in day to day cutting. Even if it weren't rustproof, I'd still love it.

Yea they have the pivot screws but to get them to a workable action it seems to open to easily still. I would like if they had a reverse action something to kero them closed better. Still a great knife. I get by with securing it with a band.

I have a Pacific, Aqua and Rock in H1. They are all great knives but would like some other synthetic for the grip scales like G10.
