Anyone ever found their Grail knife?

I don't really have a grail knife, to have one in mind means there's an end all be all knife out there, I can't accept that notion because eventually if I believed in the grail then eventually I'd find it and stop looking.

I'm more if I find something I like, I use it till I find something better, I do have 2 that haven't been replaced in 10-15 years, a Part Crawford Frame Lock and a Bud Nealy Aikuchi fixed blade, I guess because they are with me everyday and everywhere, I guess by some definition they are my grail knives. ;)

The search for my grail knife begins right after I found the last grail:D It's more about the search for me and the thrill of finding and receiving the knife I desired for a period of time with no luck. I think I really got into collecting sodbusters due to my desire to get my hands on a GEC orange Bullnose Proto. At the time GEC had only made a handful of them and they didn't look like they were going to make anymore in orange. I HAD to have one and searched high and low, eventually finding one. It was a rush for me to acquire something that I thought I had little chance to find and the journey was more fun than the knife itself. The funny thing is while searching for the knife I started coming across other sodbusters, some very rare, which caused me to start looking for the next hard to find soddie. Some other sodbuster grails I've found are the Stag Schatt&Morgan, 2003 NKCA Youth Soddie in Red Bone, Queen #70 in Stag, Case Sodbuster JR in Red an Turquoise. Each one was a thrill to find and now I'm on to the next, a Queen #70 in Black Cherry Delrin and a Black Bullnose with Redneck stamp on the pivot. When I find those, I'll move onto to the next:D....

The grail is a metaphorical concept, it's actually the journey that matters...;)
I think I'm going down this path. I don't have a grail in mind, never expect to find one, but I'm having fun.
Sort of aimless.
Is that like an anti-grail?

I have several times but then my AD-hey shiney kicks in and I am off again. :(

I've had a Buck 501 since 1980. While I have other knives and carry them more often (I like the Mini-Grip for convenience of one hand opening) I could be content with just a 501 as an only pocket knife.

Anyone ever found their Grail knife?
I personally have not, but I suffer from knife addiction (like many of y'all do :D). What I mean to say is has anyone found the one knife that makes them content. I go through a cycle of buying a new knife, falling in love with it but then after a month or so the itch comes back to find another!

I have not yet found THE ONE. I don't think I ever will. It's fun to look for it, though.

Short answer is nope. Probably never will. There is no grail for me, just endless possibilities.

A double-edged sword:

Were it not for the internet, I would not have discovered so many perfect knives.

Were it not for the internet (and an on-going confrontation with The Paradox of Choice), any one of a subset of the afore-mentioned "perfect" knives could easily have locked down the position of The One.

I have determined this is to be a good problem. I am enjoying my array. :)

The Ken Steigerwalt custom I picked up earlier this year may not be my grail knife. But if it isn't, it's certainly on my short list: (It's the one on top.)

Seems a lot of us have the same problem. The grail is not what we are addicted to, it's more the hunt for the grail. Once you find the knife, a part of you misses the searching that you've been doing. So you pick another grail and start again.

My latest grail was the NKCA 1990 Youth knife, the first youth knife made. I was ecstatic to get it, and then was off on the hunt for something else.

Very true. I have any number of knives which, alone, could last me all my days. I like to hunt out old knives on fleamarkets and antique shops, I tell myself I'm rescuing them! :D ;)

Oh yeah. I've found my grail knife about a dozen times. At least.:D

Yep. I have found the knife I could be content with, but still on the hunt for certain ones I want. The 735109 in smooth White Bone (non-liner lock) still eludes me.

Christian and Jeff you both have great custom knives from outstanding craftsmen. Mike Jr. Does have a way of making some beauties. Rodrigo is beyond a doubt one of the best when it comes to big integrals. Thanks for sharing them here gents.

Many great knives shown here already. As for a grail I can't accept that there can be just one. Too many great knives to choose from.

If you're talking a traditional, this one is still my favorite, but thank god we aren't FORCED to pick one and we get to enjoy a VARIETY.

The first time I saw a D'Holder knife I knew I wanted one. Did not expect to be able to afford one. But 27 years ago, I went to the New York Knife Show with $250.00 in pocket. Strolled up to D'Holder's table and spied what I thought to be the best looking and most Unique knife on the table. I dare not ask to see it. But Mr. Holder looked at me, and without knowing what knife I wanted, handed me my "Grail". $250.00 was the price and I was a happy boy.
Knife is the top left.

Yeah... I almost found my grail knife ... Queen DB Barlow :)

... and this one would also qualify as a grail knife. It finds its way into my pocket alone. It´s my most frequent carried knife of all those I have (and it are almost roundabout 300)
