Anyone ever had a high $$$ knife stolen or confiscated?

I lost an Endura on the only night I ever wound up in the drunk tank. Not sure how it happened. Since I could have been charged with something and wasn't, I didn't get fussy about search and seizure.

Not to further derail from the original post but it's fascinating how varied things are from state to state regarding the repercussions of killing an intruder on your property. In one state you're practically rewarded and in another you'll be enjoying the upcoming years in prison. I can't say which one is better; it depends on the situation.

In the UK you would be sent to prison for even thinking about it.

actually in another forum I am on, a guy almost got 25 to life (I think) for defending himself in his own home.

I've had knives stolen from my car twice.
An MP at Fort Leonard Wood tried to "confiscate" my perfectly legal Spyderco Dodo, but it didn't turn out that way.
I've lost three customs in the mail.
My brother-in-law stole my first "expensive" knife; a Lone Wolf Paul Prankster. I haven't seen him since.
A local police officer wanted to cite me for CCW for carrying my Spyderco Military. Wouldn't write a receipt; just give up the knife and take a trip to the Justice Center. After much talking with a lawyer (I was arrested) we determined that the LEO didn't have a case. I never saw my knife again.

Mmarkh has a point I think, if you have a large knife collection like that you should really have a decent safe to put them in and protect them . Who wants area yokels to end up with your knife collection -not a good situation for anyone.

(( rules violation ))

I lost my entire collection to a home breakin.....Had a time with insurance on that...carl

I can only dream of catching the lowlife POS and putting a bullet in his/her head and I would without hesitation. Rest of my life in jail or the chair, I don't give a flying rats A. Stealing really, really, really rubs me the wrong way. I don't care if it was a couple of 12 year old kids getting their kicks. If I would have caught em I would put em down like a rabid dog.

Wow, all that for just a knife? You really must have some issues. :jerkit:

Still frosts my ass to this day.....

My Dad was in the Coast Guard , he bought a knife while in service , I think it was a Camillus, one of those boaters knives with one blade and a spike for rope , some call it marlin spike. My whole 'kidhood' I admired that knife , thought it was neatest knife in the world , he carried it in his tackle box for years and years.

When he got to the point where he lost interest in boating and fishing he gave me that knife.

About 11 years ago or so I had a small party in my apartment at the time , all who were there were people I knew well and friends , long story short the next day the knife was missing. I put the word out that if it magically came back I would ask no questions , I just wanted my knife back , that knife had a lot of good memories.

I've tried buying a few on ebay but none of them come close to that classic knife and of course cannot replace what was stolen.

I still hope they permanently dismember a finger with it, screw sympathy for thieves....

Wow.... what a total POS. Cops who do that should be fired and made to work at McDonalds for the rest of thier lives... I have zero respect for authority that uses it's "position" to do whatever it feels like...

wankers...

Never had a high $$ knife taken, but to speak to the shoot the thief crowd, I live in Texas and they believe in blowing your ass away if you mess with somebody else's property.

We had a guy in the metro area that saw some guys breaking into his neighbors house. He calls 911 and says I'm gonna go stop them, and if I remember correctly, you can hear him shucking a pump shotgun on the 911 call. He runs out and kills both bad guys. He was cleared by a grand jury. Look up the Joe Horn shootings in Texas and you will see a bunch of stuff.

I'm just slightly to the right of John Birch, yet shooting a knife theif isn't the way to go. The time may come in this country when people who steal resources will be dealt with by a bullet in the head, but we're still quite a way from that point.

During the Katrina aftermath in Louisiana there was a confiscation of peoples' only means of protection, and that would be more of a valid reason for strenuous resistence in my mind than the theft of a knife. When it comes to one's own protection, or the protection of one's family, a badge isn't always enough...or at least it won't be from now on. Confiscated weapons can get you out of a prosceution if an LEO wants to keep your knife, so fighting a confiscation may not be smart. In a societal breakdown, two stupid things will happen: 1) prisons not able to feed or care for violent, homicidal inmates will ultimately free them and turn them loose on society; and 2) authorities will ultimately try to disarm anyone of dangerous weapons, be they guns, some knives, machetes and perhaps even bows and arrows. I just read where North Carolina has a law on the books that lets it ban the possession or sale of handguns or rifles in times where emergencies have been declared.

Those without any means of self defense will want all weapons confiscated; those who have weapons, on the other hand, will be hesitant to give them up.

while not expensive, my dad got me a buck vangaurd r for my 14 b-day.gutted my first deer with it then one of my brothers friends snagged when he through a party

Yeah. Cops took it for a standard search. (nothin illegal about it) and they never gave it back so I had to call the police station and get it back. It was a hassle. I think the cops were trying to steal it

I had a roommate skip out with two Randalls and a Buckmaster

Now it's time to break out the firearms!

I got clipped for my 20 year edc over the past holidays, a custom gravity knife of my own creation. My daughter wanted it badly over other conventional knives I offered her as a gift.

I gave it to her and after going out with some creepy guy (IM0) for a few dates I callled her on a "blade check" and she couldn't find it. Tossed her room, car, everywhere and it's MIA.

I also have 3 Italian autos, two leverlocks and a picklock MIA for 6 months now?

Those are the only 4 knives missing but not given up on yet.

Oh yeah, Dad broke my first gravity knife while he walked up on me working with a tiny file on the tang/locking tab area, loosening it up for duty 38 yrs ago. I'm still pissed about that one. It was finished and just fine tuning her up a bit.

I had a small collection stolen back in the mid-1990's. The little twits took a handmade bowie that had a huge amount of sentimental value for our family; the friend who made it died soon after making the knife. There's no way those thieving little cretins could know the real or sentimental value of what they stole.

I've spent many a free moment since then, fantasizing about what a good punishment for them would be . . . something like living forever in a Twilight Zone episode, where the thieves get dunked in a toilet & 'swirlied' by the local Girl Scout troop, 12 times a day, while they sing "Singin' In The Rain", would be a good start.

I always feel better when I think about that.

thx - cpr

The first 2 Busses I ordered ( straight handled Mistress and SH II ) were scooped by someone at Canada Post or Canada Customs:mad::mad:

Hope this one helps cheer up the harsh stories. I remember when I was 13 asking for a knife for my birthday. Everyone was up at our cabin for my birthday expect my dad who was on the mainland working till the weekend. I remember him showing up on Saturday morning and him giving me my present. It was Old Timer fixed blade. Had to be one of the best presents ever. Cut a bunch of stuff, whittled a lot of drift wood, cut up an apple fresh off the tree, cut myself a bunch etc. Great weekend all in all. My dad passed away 2 years later. Sometimes after that I thought the knife was stolen from my house and hadn't saw the knife since. I always thought about that knife. Just the other month we were cleaning up my old bedroom, I was outside throwing out trash and my brother comes up to me and says look what I found. It was the knife! Words don't express how happy I was.

That knife and my dad's old Buck 110 that was on his belt when he passed are my 2 more prized possessions I think out of anything I own...:)

Sorry about the crap cell phone pic...
