Anyone have a "boring" but amazing knife?

Bob, you're already on record as a fellow who carries a Manbug. We have to ask ourselves if you are the sort of man who would make the proper impression on a woman like Scarlett Johansson. The ESEE-3 has enough trouble as it is.
Think of it this way: if you can carry a ManBug: you have got to feel pretty secure about these sort of things...

Having said that: she is certainly attractive enough; to scare the Hell out of any man.

I don't know how to describe it...

I first bought ESEE-3, then soon after that I wanted to sell it.

Then I decided to use it and it worked great so I love it again. It's my favourite user and possibly my most used knife.

But why is it boring?
Well, one basic drop point piece of 1095 with 2 micarta slabs screwed on.
If Mora was making a full tang full flat grind knife - I imagine that's how it'd look like.

ESEE warranty is the only exciting thing about this knife. And oh boy, you sure do pay for it too. I somehow scored a deal and paid just under 100€ for it, and it usually costs around 150+€ with sheath...

I never had performance issues with it, but again, compare it to my other knives:
1.Viper Berus (Italian made M390 EDC knife with special design by Tommaso Rumici)
2.Ka-Bar 1211 (this one speaks for itself)
3.Ka-Bar short Tanto (also the design)
4.Warcraft Tanto (5mm thick CPM-3V tanto knife with extra tactical look)

Warranty is warranty, it's great but it's not something you can feel in your hand or see it while you use the knife.
Nothing about that knife is special, not either steel or design or performance (it performs great, but it's also very expensive so it'd suck badly if it didn't) or price/performance ratio. But I'm still glad to support people who fully stand behind their product and that's one of main reasons why I bought that knife and not something else.

But it's just so incredibly boring and unexciting.

The ESEE-3 needs a new publicist. Everybody says that the knife works great, but they are not in love with it. Maybe if the ESEE-3 were photographed at a night club with Scarlett Johansson . . . .
Dance with Scarlett Johansson would possibly be the most exciting thing about that knife...

And many of us would trade our knives to get photographed at night club with Scarlett Johansson 😂

Old Hickory 7 inch butcher knife.

Poorly finished wooden slab scales.

Cheap cutlery rivets.

Soft 1095.

No sheath.

Lazily stamped and cut.

Arrives dull with wonky edges.

Ten to twelve bucks new.

And then you sharpen it up and start using it. Works great in the kitchen. Works great as a hunting knife. Works great at butchering. Works pretty good as a bushcraft tool. Long enough to snap cut small limbs. Thin enough to cut well. Strong enough to baton. Cheap enough to modify. Fits a KaBar sheath perfect.

I can't say that I've ever been bored with a knife or gotten jaded about collecting them. Even an old knife you no longer use carries with it the memories of when you used it. If they weren't special, treasured, or served a purpose I wouldn't have them. I have knives that some people find boring for whatever reason, like the WE Banter and Benchmade Bugout, but I'm not bored by well built and useful knives.
