Anyone have a Spyderco Bushcraft factory second?

MSRP $299.95 :) You gotta love manufactures and their way to go about those numbers.

I don't know if anyone got theirs yet. Mine's due here Wednesday. I'm sure the handle problem is easily solved.

I ordered mine about two hours after they went live, UPS says they are on track for delivery Monday. We'll see.

I ordered mine Friday.I already have a back-up plan if the scales crack.

International orders must be shipping USPS.Thankfully.I really didn't feel like paying double for my knife.

I believe Sal said the 2nds are all cracked to some degree. Mine should be here this week.

Yep. No "if" involved. Of the two I got, one has fairly minor cracks, the other is a bit worse. Neither is bad enough to render the knife unusable. It looks like the more spalting there is the worse the cracking is. I suppose that is to be expected under the circumstances.

I'm not a fan of the Scandi grind, but it is well done. Both knives came out of the box usable but not shaving sharp. The second notch is small and unobtrusive.

The leather sheath is worth the price of admission all by itself.

I orderd two from Mike Kelly @ Spyderco. He said hes was personally going to purchase as many as he could. He also said that the at the rate they are filling orders, that all blem Bushcraft's should be sold out by weeks end. I will post photos of mine when they show. I don't think you could possibly go wrong with this one.

Anyway we can get you to snap some pics? Are the cracks teh whole way through the handles or just the surface starting to split open? You try to fill them with anything yet? Thanks

I haven't done anything to them yet. At least one of the cracks in one scale goes all the way through.

So what do those of you who've already pulled the trigger plan on doing to stabilize the handles. Wood Filler?

Thanks for the pics. That's such a shame to see those cracks on such a pretty knife. Some kind of black wood filler would actually make that look pretty good I bet. Blend it in with all the other dark figuring of the grain. So, we know all these are or will be/get cracked, but are the scales still stable on teh knife or do you think they can get loose. I read that they are put on with an epoxy adhesive, so I'm thinking even if cracked, they are still solidly mounted to the tang, right? It looks like a good deal to me, but $90 is $90. I'm still kinda on the fence. Thanks again for the great pics. I'm just going to assume that all the rest of the run is going to look like that. Again, what a shame.:(

The scales seem to be quite solidly attached. If you live in a very humid area, there is a good chance the wood will swell back to its original size and the cracks will close up. If you are like me and live where 40% humidity is referred to as "rain", there doesn't seem to be much chance of that.

I'm planning to try injecting epoxy into the cracks. The larger ones should accept it if I'm careful.

I cannot see for the life of me where that high of a MSRP comes from , O1 and spalted maple are not exactly high dollar , especially considering the vast array of quality bushcraft blades ( production and custom ) one can buy for well under that price.

I am curious as to how those hold up once you guys fix the cracks and whatnot.
