Anyone know: Mtech Usa?

No, wrong is spending an extra $100 on something(tactically equivalent) when I can
use that $100 to benefit my family. That's principal.

I have yet to see a cheapo rip-off knife that is "tactically equivalent" to the real thing. I would think that being a man of principle would "benefit your family" much more than small amount of money you could save by supporting theives, but to each his own.

3G

By the way, I have purchased($8) a Chinese copy of your Poliwog
also, great little knife. ;)

Are you actually bragging about this? To the man himself? I cannot adequately express my disgust with your despicable attitude in this forum without being infracted by the mods. It's simply deplorable.

When you knowingly purchase a design copy or counerfeit, Doesn't that make you part of the problem by supporting thieves?

sal

Sal, to answer your question, one would have to have ethics and the intelligence to understand the true scope of the problem. From what I've seen so far, I highly doubt that the person to whom you posed that question possesses the required attributes to do so.;)

Planterz, don't even consider taking the bait from someone who will undoubtedly end up getting kicked overboard in the near future. I'd be willing to bet a fair amount of green that our new friend is simply a returning troll.

His join date is Jan 2007. If he's a returning troll, he's been under the radar for quite some time. But you're right, I shouldn't feed the troll. It's well established at this point what kind of a person he is, so whether he stays around or not, he'll get all the respect from us he deserves (none).

a "c" for effort on your response though. :D

I see what you mean. I could pay good money for the opinion of a Chinese prison labor camp manager, or I could get your opinion (which is 'tactically equivalent') for free.

Think of all the money I saved!

+1 :thumbdn::barf:

That's about as much as I can say without going overboard.

I would be willing to take 10-15 points, but I'm afraid that once I started typing I would rack up 100+ before I could stop myself and get banned.:(

I see that groupthink is in full effect. Did you guys vote for Obama? :D
Josh, who is the man, himself? I respond to ridiculous accusations, and
am not afraid of any "man", not even the "man himself". Does anyone have an actual reply, or just personal, silly "troll' accusations? Maybe we should have a shootout on actual functionality of an M Tech Trailmaster vs. a "real" Chinese made Trailmaster.

I haven't personally insulted anyone,
just stated my reasons for owning a specific knife 100% of you don't agree
with. I am suppose to change my mind because of that? Not in
a 1000 years. Am I supposed to like rap "music" because 100% of
people under 40 listen to it?(that's a rhetorical question). :)

This "Sal" guy has Byrd knives made in China. Do you suppose that
the very factory that made my "Chinese piece of junk" just might have been
made in the same factory? He(estimate) probably makes $18 for every $4
spent on a Byrd, yet the praises are sung here among many on the quality.
I don't see why people who have no financial stake in something are so
quick to defend.

By the way, the guard on my "Trailmaster" is a little crooked(from the box), but that's the only flaw I can find in it after batoning with a mallet, practicing some slashing drills with it on a poor piece of plywood and bending it about 30degrees and trying to break it. I haven't brought out the hammer yet(but
that wouldn't be scientific now, would it). ;)

Take care...

:D

pics incoming....

I couldn't agree more. That is disgusting that you are bragging to Sal about buying his stolen design. :barf::barf::barf::barf::barf:

The man himself would be Sal Glesser, who happens to be the President of Spyderco. You're shoving the fact that you bought a knock off of his knife right in the mans face. I find absoluetly nothing more underhand or despicable then that. Not only have you failed utterly in your attempts to incite him, but you have also failed to demonstrate to us any sort of intelligence.

You say he's making about $18 for each knife? Knives of higher quality then some USA made production pieces? I don't suppose they are made in the same factory because the same factory that makes your knock off is probably using pot metal and child labor. Sal toured China personally meeting with people that were on a very short list of quality manufacturing. I'm not going to even touch on pricing and manufacturing costs because first off you aren't worth my time, and second I doubt you'd understand it anyways.

If you don't think you've personally insulted someone then I feel very sorry for you. The severe lack of judgment you are showing will not help you.

I do honestly hope that you learn your lesson the hard way and have the knife fail. For your sake and ours I hope you decide to think before you post. I know it's hard exercising a muscle you hardly use, but try.

It's not his design, you need to educate yourself before you make a fool
of yourself. It's Lynn Thompson's design, which I would think every one would be all for since the groupthink logic here is the man is an immoral, design copying, man with immoral marketing. You guys are so easy to pick apart,
I should have been a lawyer. :D

Who attacked first? Go back and educate yourself(it's the arrow that points left on your browser,). Originally I just stated my experience with it. I did buy another, $15 from a wholesaler(my third). I'll grant you guys 10% of this argument(and that's generous) by saying their folders generally are pretty bad except for the Civilian copy they make. :)

Josh, you are wishing physical harm comes to me for speech? Are you
one of those leftover guards from the gulags? :D

The Poliwog is most certainly Spyderco's design. "Groupthink" logic? There are a few members who are offended by his marketing practices but I doubt the general consensus is that he's an "immoral, design copying, man with immoral marketing".

Who attacked who? You need some help if you can't link that together. You mentioned buying a knockoff Cold Steel product,

Don't be so fast to judge. I bought a Trailmaster copy and
pounded the heck out of it. It's very tough. $25 too! Check out this link:

I would buy another in a heartbeat(I did actually). :D

Sal says, "Hm.. don't you think that doing that is wrong?"
When you knowingly purchase a design copy or counerfeit, Doesn't that make you part of the problem by supporting thieves?

sal

You proceed to point out that you bought a knockoff of his product.
No, it leaves $100 dollars in my pocket that I would have spent on
a Chinese made Cold Steel that I seriously doubt is tougher than this
copy. By the way, I have purchased($8) a Chinese copy of your Poliwog
also, great little knife. ;)

I see a clear line with you as the instigator.
