Anyone use a bandana?

Or the unwillingness of some to start a new thread on a topic that interests them rather than revive an archived thread with posts by members who are no longer present, if even still alive. Thread necromancy is generally frowned upon.

Well learn something new everyday, I didn't know older revived threads weren't useful anymore, I also have a grandchild about this age.., never meant to bring up a bad post and have it frowned upon like that.., I figured a lot of people still found them useful..
Probably would be best to go back through and delete everything from '09 since you're a mod..
Appreciate the heads up on that.., thanks bud.

We don't delete archived threads as there is often interesting material in the discussion. It is just preferred that old threads not be necro'd. Particularly those more than a year or two old. A better convention is to start a current discussion and if one wants, add a link to a prior discussion. And I was not implying some great sin on your part, threatening sanction. In fact I am not a moderator of this subforum, just a participant like you. But I do know how the forum s work best. Starting a new thread is quite easy. Carry on.

On a bandana I carry two or three on me at all times I prefer the larger ones at 27in. I used it many times collecting edible plants getting it wet to cool off.
I also like to carry a buff well not the original but a cheaper clone of one. I found the buff to work great to keep the neck warm at night or keep the sun off you during the day. Also works great when you ride the motorcycle at night at high elevations in the canyons.

But I went a step father and had one made for me. which is sized at 50in, I know I mentioned a while ago about joining a group of backpackers and we had two people suffer sun stroke / heat stroke. All that happened cause of no place to stop with any shade.

The purpose of the larger one is to help keep the sun off when you at rest in the open with no shade. Out here in CA on many hikes there will be no shade and it can get to you fast on a hot day.
I could use it to stop and using my hiking pole to build a small tipi kind of shelter. To keep your self off the sun and let the dog sit next to you and cool off as well. Still working on the idea on how I want it to be made to make it as versatile as possible. I also used it once to just drape it over me while hiking in the sun. I still change it and make mods to it till it will be perfect for what I need. I'm getting it reinforced at critical points. Also made some places where I can use a carbineer to hang it for shelter. So I can use it instead of a towel when hitchhiking the universe.
