Anyone using these?

Great info as usual from here-haven't seen these before and will check them out on next shopping trip.

These are one of those products that make me feel dumb. Just dead simple - the original has no moving parts.

This frees up the space it takes my brain to remember how to tie a trucker hitch.

Yes! These are really useful! Can't live without them! I have them in various sizes on my pack and in my bag when I travel! I've used them to tension tarp, secure items and even use it for a makeshift clothes line! These are so convenient and easy to use for people with limited knot knowledges too..

I have a couple of those--really handy when you're trying to get tension really tight on something heavy--like the clothesline mentioned above. You can end up doing a simple knot for an even more secure hold after the tension is where you want it. :)

Nite Ize makes some cool gear-type stuff. I have some regular S carabiners from them, nothing to secure cord, though.

I trust most nite-ize products about as far as I can throw them, and I have a really bad shoulder. They have some outstanding concepts and designs but their execution and QC leave a lot to be desired. It broke my heart when they bought Inova, as I knew it was only a matter of time before their products suffered.

I got a bunch of the Figure 9's. The are great for setting up tarps. They work for clothes lines and tie downs.

I was just in a Surplus store the other day and saw that they make a plastic version of them now. Mine are metal.

Yeah,I have had some of those for a while. I mainly use them tying stuff down also. They do work well.

Those things got popular in the hammock and tarp community. They used to be just the tensioner part but people started complaining about losing them. Add a “carabiner” clip, done! Clip them on your pack, etc. if you lose things like I do. Pretty neat little gizmos. What’s that phrase about necessity being the mother of invention or something like that?

Could we get some pictures, please, because I'm evidently to dumb to figure this thing out. haha

went camping with a friend once who had some of these and was amazed at how useful they were! found numerous uses for them and ended up picking some up for myself, and was amazed that i managed to live life without them before!

I looked at these but a knowledge of good knots seems to work just fine for me. Taughtline hitch and im good to go.

I've been keeping some of the small Figure 9 tighteners in my shelter kit for quite a while. I like how fast they are to put up and, and just as importantly, take down. The small ones work great with para-cord and jute twine. I also like how easy they are to tighten if you line stretches a bit like para-cord tends to do. A USGI poncho, some cord, some Figure 9s, and a few lightweight aluminum stakes gives you a ton of quick shelter options in a package that weighs very little.

I haven't tried the type with the clip yet.

So is it better than a classic 8 ?

Simple is good and it doesn't have any moving parts? How does that compare?

We used to use them at some gigs, but no all that often. But then again most of our riggers were working without any kind of safety equipment at all for the most part

Please note these are not a climbing or safety device
