Anyone using these?

I guess they would come in handy if you don't have a knife, screwdriver, second bottle (plastic soda bottles work) or piece of paper.. Yep, I can open a non-screwcap bottle with all of the above, does that mean I have a problem? :o

No, that means you have talent:D

Might sound daft, but I use one of these hooked to my belt to hold the dog lead for those times I need both hands free for something else. Small loop of paracord on the hand loop makes it easy and fast to attach/detach.

The other addition to the hand loop is a cheap non-climbing carabiner for quick tie-ups to fences or around posts.

some pretty cool ides for uses that I never though of. I remeber when they first came out and showed em to my wife. MY wife quickly pointed out they were not rated for climbing and she had no intrest in em if she couldnt use em for climbing. DUh, guess I should have thought bout all the uses I could get out of em. At least I know now.

Wait,

In the Corps we used a simple rod that had one hole on each end. Think of the metric side of a small wrench. You would put the standard stake in the ground, and loop your rope around it (not tying it). The rope would go through one end of the device, loop around the stake, and go through the other end. The tension would pull on the outboard device, actually locking it in place fairly well. Aren't these around? Seemed simple enough to market.

I got a few. I use em to hold down gear on top of the car.

I have several sizes used them a lot when i ha a pick up. now they are in my car kit with the rope. very fast and easy to use.

They look like a good idea, but I must admit it would be just as easy to use a "ship shank" knot (I think it is also called a Truckers knot). I can get a lot of tension on the rope without any problems using that knot.

Well due to this thread I stopped last night and picked up 2 of the smaller caribiner 9's. Great little addition to my pack. Very simple device with a lot of uses. Thanks for the lead Jeff
