Anyone using these?

use em for all sorts of things. many hows to's out there using em with tarps and other things. they are a fav with hammock users. keep a couple in my bag whenever im out. some in the vehicle. 101 uses or more! made in numerous sizes for different apps

I've seen 'em in hardware depts., could not envision a use to warrant purchase, 'til now. Thanks guys.

I too bought the small ones for the guy lines of my tent. Like others, I prefer to use a taught line hitch. I also know a variation of the truckers hitch (that I learned from my Dad) that will put the figure 9 to shame. I have never seen it documented anywhere... I will try to put up a video of it.

Jeff,
I discovered those a couple of years ago.

I have two lightweight nylon back packing tarps. When I hike, I carry one of them, along with a prepared pack of stakes, precut para cord and some of these 9 biners as well as a few S biners.

Nite Ize makes some cool gear-type stuff. I have some regular S carabiners from them, nothing to secure cord, though.

They now have a larger S carabiner that also opens bottle caps, a truly usefull piece of gear.:D

I'm going to order a few of the 9's for my sun/rain fly we take car camping, they look like they would speed the set up quite a bit.

Check out the new wire ties they have as well. Really great for securing stuff fast.

I have one in my PSK, but have not had chance to try it yet. It looks pretty darned useful.

I have one of the non-carabiner ones on the ridgeline for my tarp. It is OK, but it has slipped a time or two, when I haven't paid close enough attention when wrapping it up. My ridgeline is made from specrta cord instead of paracord though.

Quite frankly, while they're nifty, I can do a trucker's hitch in about as much time and it will hold better and be stronger, with one less gadget to lose.

been using them since my stores northface rep came buy the store and was showing us tent fly shelters. when he showed it to me i was DUH!!! why didnt i think of that. I have a hand full of them in different sizes

i've thought about it but i'm afraid if i buy a few the w&ss folks will kick me out of that forum for using one instead of good ol' fashioned knots :D

You know it, JV3. :D

(I had a lot more typed out, but realized, if you don't know the reason to learn and use knots already, nothing I'm going to post is going to change anything.)

I bought 6 of them about 7-8 months ago Jeff and love them! They really are one of those things that you think how didn't I think of this?! I've pretty much used them for the same things so far. They're great for tying/tarping off loads in the back of your truck, setting up a shelter and using it as a instant and solid tie off for your rope. I've used them for tying gear on my pack and hanging some off the front straps. They've got tons of uses but I've just scratched the surface of what you really could do with them!

I guess they would come in handy if you don't have a knife, screwdriver, second bottle (plastic soda bottles work) or piece of paper.. Yep, I can open a non-screwcap bottle with all of the above, does that mean I have a problem? :o
