Anyone venture out with only a single bladed slipjoint?

It being summer, I like as little cargo in my cargo pockets as possible. I'm considering leaving the house with only a single bladed Charlow for a cutting tool. And while I am exaggerating the point a bit, the "be prepared" former boy scout in me is wondering if I'd be more responsible with a back up knife. Or a stockman--
Anyone carry a single blade as their only knife and survived to tell the tale? :)

I've been carrying my Sodbuster Jr alone for the past two months. Works for me at present.

I've tried the single bladed knife route, and while I don't mind it, I usually prefer to have a two bladed carry knife.

But I suppose I cheat a bit in that though due to almost always, unless I forget to grab it, is my Vic minichamp clipped onto a single AAA light in my other pocket.

As I've aged though and my hands are stiffer, a single bladed knife just feels a bit too thin for me anymore.

Mm yes on occasion I'll take one of my more robust slippies. A Bullbuster, Bullnose or Sodbuster would work perfectly. The 77 Stag Jack fits that bill for me on a single bladed slipjoint. That being said, it is rare considering I have a fixie on my riding boots, and almost always an opinel in my right side pocket.

I have done it in the past, and I've celebrated many birthdays since, so I suppose I got away with it.

But, I'm too much a blade nut and I'm way more comfortable with a multi bladed knife. Two blade jack, pen, or scout knife with a few tools tossed in. I went through a sodbuster stage back in the 80's, but it came and went. Growing up with scout and stockmen just ingrained a pattern in me with multiple blades on hand. If I carry a angle blade knife like a Opinel, or even my beloved resolza, there's the Vic classic on my keyring, so I'm cheating a bit by having whole second knife on hand in a pinch.

I'm a single blade guy. I've pocketed a Laguiole for years.
It helps that most of the time I have my toolbox around.

Besides my Beer Scout I usually have a tactical along for the ride.

I prefer a single bladed knife. One large and a pen like a Barlow isn't bad either.

I've got plenty of Stockmen because they are ubiquitous. I do like them but I don't think they are quite as comfortable in the hand.

Almost never, usually have a small fixed blade riding along with a scout pattern or SAK. And it is definitely overkill, I would get by just fine with "only" the scout or SAK :).

My preference is for single blade patterns, not totally opposed to two blades or more but prefer they are on opposite ends of the knife.

Been carrying my Old Timer 194OT for the last few days. Seems to work out okay. Although it is backed up with a 12OT in the watch pocket. I prefer my 2 blade Jack Knives on most days, but I was wanting to try something different for a while.

Yes. I also went many years without carrying any sort of knife at all and survived.

Most days I have naught but a single blade slipjoint in my pocket. I don't know about you, but I look at the day ahead and decide what I'm going to carry based on where I'll be and what I'll be doing there.
If I'm sitting in my office, I'll typically grab a thin single blade food slicer like my 77 barlow or forum knife since that's about all I'll be cutting at the office.

If I'm going to be outiside and don't know what I'll come across, I usually grab my Fremont, it's a bit more stout and has a nice tip.

If I'm traveling, I usually grab my Case/Bose Lanny's clip; it's stout enough for whatever may come up, but unassuming and usually clean if I need it to cut food.

But I'm also a bit of a cheater in that I usually have my Leatherman in my bag within reach, so I've always got a nice backup, just not on my person.

Single blade for me. The simpler, the better. I know when it needs touch up. If I'm riding my Honda in the woods or out on a mission, I bring a multi tool, but for everyday carry, I love the simplicity of a single blade.

I don't exactly know what a "charlow" is, but I carry single blades almost exclusively. Either a 73 Scout or a 15 TC Barlow Single Spey.

I am a single blade guy myself. I have gone quite some time with just my GEC model 73. It will soon be replaced with a GEC model 83 I have on order.

A Charlow is a TC Barlow. It's "Charlie's Barlow" shortened to Charlow.

The only time I carry a single blade folder is when I carry one of my lockbacks. I have a great fondness of lockbacks. But, I also will carry a second folder with me along with a lockback and that will most likely have at least three blades.
