Anyone venture out with only a single bladed slipjoint?

My single bladed, one knife only days are long gone. For many years I carried one of two Puma lockbacks and no other knife.

The knifenut thing has taken over and I'm lucky to get out the door with less then three.

"You're a better man then I am, Gunga Din!" ;)

I've tried, but I'm always finding I'm needing another blade other than what I have on hand. Often I pair a Cadet or Pioneer with my 2-bladed Charlow. I guess I'm just trying to have the right tool for the job all the time.

This pocket dump should answer that. (There is another modern folder not included in this pic).

Sometimes I carry just a Farm and Field Tool single blade sodbuster pattern. It's nice and light and capable. I'm usually packing a whittler or stockman though.

Here she is, in all her patinated glory.

I'm definitely in the multi-blade camp, but occasionally carry a single blade, about 10% of the time. Usually one of these two.

I could, but logical thoughts of single blade carry have since been filled with "what ifs, I don't knows, and maybe I'll need this" preferences of carry. :)

Maybe it has something to do with my surroundings and peers. Making me a product of my environment. ;)

If it's not a sod buster, or GEC Bullnose, then it's one of my GEC Farmer Lock's; of course, there's a alox SAK in a pocket sheath to pick up where the single blade can't go.;)

To be honest, most days any one of my knives, even a little 18or, is plenty. If I'm hunting or something, of course I will be sure to carry something more appropriate, but I carry a stockman because I like the pattern, not because I need 3 blades each day.

I ventured out there more than once with just a small SAK and here I am
Most of my ancestors do venture out with a single bladed friction folder and they seem to be doing fine. Same for most southern European knife users. I've done the same many times. And aside I'm hiking, I never carry more than one knife (although lately my most carried knife has two blades).
Try it. Be brave. Then come back and tell us about it :p

I go out with only one of my davisons quite often. Truth be known, it'll cover 95+% of needed cutting tasks.

Granted, even the , a fixed blade is never far away. Trunk of car, toolbox in shop, lunch bag at work. Short of working in the woods, I find it rarely needed.

80% of the time I carry a single blade custom, the other times it's a double blade Old Timer......:D

I like to go from one extreme to the other.....:)

Very often, I dislike too much bulk in the pocket. Of course I LIKE multi-blades but a single is often sufficient. Opinel, Laguiole, Slimline Trapper, GEC 15, Queen Linerlock or a Hampton Teardrop or Ohta single aint too rough either:D

I carry the bottom knife (slim swayback) most of the time and the BP when I'm camping or fishing, or when I can't find the swayback. I do have a Norfolk by Kerry Hampton that is my dress carry knife, or when I can't find the other two. :)
