Anyone venture out with only a single bladed slipjoint?

Great knives Mike, they've seen proper use (it's what they're made for):thumbup:

Regards, Will

I usually dare to venture into the wilds of my office job with only a single bladed slipjoint. What can I say? I'm a wild man!

Since my regular carry only has one cutting blade, I guess that I very comfortable with it. I carry a 111mm SAK every day; every day for years. I sometimes add a modern which is one blade, or a two bladed GEC trapper pattern (#42 to be specific). With traditionals and I don't mean SAKs, I prefer two blades.

A single blade yes but with other tools on board. The trad slippie I carry most while hiking is a Wictorinox alox Pioneer. The times I have needed those other tools are too many to mention.

I have thought about getting an stockman but have changed my mind. Multiple different blades don't serve a purpose to me.

Yep. I carry my single-blade GEC #77 lambfoot or my #92 Talon wharncliffe regularly. Admittedly my #82 Dixie Stockman gets a bit more carry time, that's 'cause I like them all.

Yes. I also went many years without carrying any sort of knife at all and survived.

So did I when not working. But I must admit I had a SAK in my working bag and a Laguiole single in my pocket when away from home.
Now, except for US knives, I have many single bladed knives. Depends of the kind of job (and my mood) I want to do, but most of time they are sufficient.

Will,
Your Otha is amazing! !! Can you please post one picturein the opened position?

When i go camping i carry a lot of knives....every time they stay in the backpack and i use only my backpocket pattern.
If the knife is keen and sharp, with a carbon steel heat treated as it's due, there is pretty much anything you can't ask it to do as a knife.

Inspired by this thread, I started yesterday carrying one of my single blade knives. I plan to rotate them and see what happens. The peanut is in the sock drawer. Today I carried my trusty resolza and the sun still rose in the east, my Toyota got me to Frederick Maryland for my Friday morning old farts breakfast, and then Karen and I took a 4 mile walk around Clopper Lake in a nice wooded surrounding. I didn't get jumped by Chinese paratroopers, have to fight off a hostile critter, or do any survival things in the woods. The ressolza did slice up a nice salad for lunch though!

Tomorrow will be a Higonokami day.

Lately I carry Bullbusters almost everyday in my back pocket next to my wallet. Today I have a Pioneer in my cargo front pocket. It is a dual blade model, but I was thinking it would be more comfortable to use the knife if the secondary blade wasn't there. I wouldn't mind having a single blade 73 or 23.

Thanks Mike. I just gotta get a couple of ivory handled beauties like your Hanson and Halfrich and then I'll be set.

You have a great memory! I lost the Hanson right about when the ivory was getting a killer buttery hue. Last I knew, Roland Proctor had the Halfrich. Maybe he is tired of it now.

It would be an unusual day when I didn't carry a single blade - most often something in the 3 - 4 inch range.
