Anyone watching FORGED IN FIRE: KNIFE OR DEATH?

I really like the show, but wish they would have gotten a knife maker or someone experienced with cutting comps to do one side of the commentary.
I, like Justin though, appreciated Goldberg's response to big Chris' run.

If I showed up and saw I was competing against big Chris, Dwayne Unger or Dan Keffeler I would probably try and sneak away or fake an illness!

It was cool seeing people like Dwayne Unger and Big Chris on the show. I actually helped Dwayne build his knife. It was the first knife he ever made. I've been in Bladesports comps with them and they are excellent cutters. There's a good possibility Dan Keffeler will be on season two.

With everyone getting fatigued by the time they get to the chicken I was surprised they don't left-hand the rope and ice block challenges to give their right arm a rest.

I don't think they can. I'm pretty sure they are all running multiple lanyards for safety. I'm guessing the time wasted trying to switch back and forth would eliminate any advantage. It's a good idea though.

That's what I'm afeard of: get on the show and see Keffeler standing there with a Super Assassin. :D

That's pretty bad ass to compete with the first knife you've ever made, that's a lot of force/torque being generated by those guys swinging. Not to mention, I can't help but cringe when they start cutting through the plastic bucket filled with gravel! I'd have a hard time doing that even with a "budget" blade much less a nice custom.

I'll be giddy if Dan Keffeler shows up with an Assassin for season two! Every nickel I'm able to save up is going towards one of those.

As ive watched a few episodes, I’ve been thinking about what i’d Build. 12-14” competition chopper style blade in z-wear/cpm cru-wear, 1/4” thick, ffg, and maybe a fuller or distal taper to keep the weight reasonable. I’d go Rc62/63, as I’ve yet to damage an edge at that hardness. I see the tough steels like 5160 lose their edge, and the harder steels like T15 chip. I find z-wear hits a sweet spot between the extremes. I like 3v, but I find it’s harder to balance edge holding with toughness, giving up one or the other.

Big Chris impressed me. He makes me look like a small man, which is unusual.:eek:

I couldnt agree with yall anymore. I told my wife if I made it on the show my luck it would be with big Dan and a super assasian...lol. I have seen him practicing on his instagram too.

I guess I’ll have to watch at least one episode......couldn’t get past the show’s name. It just seemed a little too cheesy.

It’s cheezy to the extreme, but for light entertainment, it’s fun.
