Why are these knives soooo' expensive?
If rat knife prices get any higher will it still make sense?

potentially dumb question: (especially if it's been answered before)
the RC5 has a bow drill divot -- and I've seen Tony's picture of how much that scorches the micarta.
How would the G10 scales on an RC3 deal with that kind of friction heat?
would they melt? scorch? ignite?
any idea where I could find a scrap of g10 to try it before taking a chance on damaging an RC3 as it seems like a pretty simple mod?

I think all of our knives are too damn expensive for what I use a knife for. Hell, anything over 7 bucks is too high 'cause I can buy an orange handle 18" Tarmontina in Peru for that much and it is BY FAR a better survival knife than a RAT, Busse, Sog, Cold Steel, Randall, KaBar, Becker or anything else you can think of.
7$ Tramontina, thats pretty upscale... this Colomian made Gavilan cost me $3 new in Peru... !

and we will both gamble the pocket change that we get back after buying dinner. That's the extent of my gambling.
