my eng prof i have right now is a nonteaching teacher! it's online and i honestly thought the dude died! he didn't post for like 2.5 weeks! i called the school to find out wtf was going on. i then got a 75 on the next essay i handed in. i'm sorry but i don't write 75 papers. he was pissed at me. He then was using a "curve" to adjust the grades. we only had 2 quizzes teh whole semester and i wrote 4/5 papers. I did all the work to the best of my ability but there are people in there that english is their second language they NEED that course for more then the content and he didn't teach it! i'll for sure give him a terrible evaluation AFTER final grades are due of course.
 
Give them all A's and see what happens when they leave school. :rolleyes:

Sometimes the slap-in-the-face reality lesson needs to be received.
 
"Curves" are basically the same thing as Affirmative Action which is the purest form of racism/sexism/discrimination because it says you're not good enough to compete by your own merit, so we have to give you an advantage.

No worries, I don't think it's cool. I was just stating that that's the only benefit it gives and think it's rather stupid. But I might add, there are some really, really dumb people in my class. It's ridiculous when you see the person next to you trying to spot answers off your sheet, in college no less...

I wasn't trying to be hard on you. My point is this: Be all that you can be regardless of others. Push that envelope and achieve because you can and because you want it. If you keep that attitude in life you will go very far and will out-pace the dumbasses by miles. Trust me on that. Never play in the same arena with those dumber than you. Never, ever lower yourself to their level, even if it means you get something for free by doing it.
 
So My wife and I had our H1N1 shots yesterday and my daughter had her 2nd.
I felt like crap for about 24 hours and same with the wife.
Now You have to choose for yourself and family if you decide to get this but its a decision any responsible parent has to take.
Im on another site called survivalist board and I posted my experiences, only to be asked "why are you on this site? its a survival site''
"ill never have monkey kidneys shot into me" etc etc
Now I understand its all pesonal choice but some of these dudes on these sites are just plain crazy/paranoid its scary!!
I join sites like this and others to learn and thats my main reason seems like some people feel like they are more of a "survivalist" than the rest of the world! lol
Anyone else come across this.
Did you get the shot? if not why not?
 
never had a flu shot ever .. dont plan on it either...

I was looking at warning signs today , either we as a whole are stupid or we are trying to prolong the Dumbing Down of America....
signs for hot coffee, the Babie warning signs are the worse ? they make me laugh but other than that ,someone in this world had to do this for there to be a warning sign,I mean WTF ?

How is that "curves" stuff executed? (Sorry, I never heard of something like that before and it seems to me this system warpes grades so much that a good grade in one class could be obtained with as much knowledge another person fails in another class.
So how does it work (technically speaking)?
 
at the local school here ,if you do not turn in your work on the due date the best you can get is a 90 the next day so on & so forth until the teacher has to give you a zero.
on a test if you fail you can retry it but the best you can do is a 70.... School are to easy now a days..

Curved grading is essentially normative; grades are awarded based on performance relative to all other individuals rather than performance relative to the difficulty of a specific course. There must always be at least one student who has a lower score than all others, even if that score is quite high when evaluated against specific performance criteria or standards. Conversely, if all students perform poorly relative to a larger population, even the highest graded students may be failing to meet standards. Thus, curved grading makes it difficult to compare groups of students to one another.

Curves are if the highest grade is say 80% then that person gets a curved 20% making it 100% the rest of class gets an extra 20% added to grade as well. I was normal the one who set the curve and had every one pissed at me for a 95%. What can I say I m a good test taker, just hated to homework.
 
Hey Rocketbomb did you piss on the lid before your roommate started drinking ? Cuz I bet it sucks to hug the bowl all night to find in the morning that your head was next to or on a little urine.

It's essentially a way for bad teachers to raise the overall scores of students so that the teachers look good. Allows the teacher to get a good rep and students keep taking classes taught by the professor because word gets around that the class is easy because the professor sucks. Would seem like a win win, but it's more like a win lose because the teacher gets paid and keeps a job whereas the students get f!#ked because they didn't get their moneys worth of education.

It's fine man, I hear ya. I believe in honesty and hate liars and cheaters always trying to get the easy way out. I've already had to deal first hand with some scumbags (for lack of a better term) and will never stoop to their level.
 
Man did I ace that final!!! I think I missed 2 questions out of the whole (4 pages front and back) test. I know I nailed the extra credit too!

And for the record, unlike a lot of people here, I am HUGE fan of "curves".... at least on women :)
 
I have two finals this week. I don't have to take either one if I don't want to. The first is only worth 50 points and might not get me to the next grade level. (assuming I don't have an A already - I'm waiting on my last paper to be graded) and the other can only keep my current grade or higher as he drops the lowest grade.....:D
