I actually can't stand that pawn stars show. The bald guy seems to be such a d!ck and gives such lowball offers. If he brings in an appraiser/historian that says it has value of $400-600, he'll go for 200.
Maybe that's just how pawn shops work and people need to learn to bargain harder but I think he seems like an idiot.
Say you have a RC-3 and you need to sell it because times are tough. You paid somewhere around a hundy for it after shipping. Now you want to get the most out of it but the pawn guy isn't going to give you anywhere near what it's worth and here is why. Anything remotely close to what you want out of it is too close to the cost of a new one. Why would a guy pay $80 for a used knife when he can buy a new one for $20 bucks more? Now in order for the pawn store to sell your knife at $80 he needs to buy it from you for less. Not rocket science here.
