I'm in a lot of trouble for responding to the following post:

"Yeah Right,friggin Moron!
"Man, either he just doesn't give a damed about what crook do , is a crook himself, or just a damed fool. I can understand not knowing. I can forgive ignorance. But he has been told different.
Any one ever notice the most ignorant people are many times the most arrogant as well?
It has been a long night in the shop, and this moron isn't worth another minute of my time. If he insist on being stupid, and proud of it, who are we to try and help him out. Especially since it seems he doesn't want the the advice of years of experience represented here by so many. Why he is here in the first place beats the hell out of me. He already knows everything there is to know. A legend in his own mind. Quick, someone sell him a Hong Kong Rolex! "

In this post I am referred to as a "friggin moron" (that's how the Brits say "fucking moron")
I am told I am a crook.
I am told I am stupid.

I replied with similar language because I was mad at that point. Posted below is my reply:

I don't need your help asshole.

Yes, that language, on my part, was innapropriate but I was provoked.
The law makes exceptions in this case and so should the forum.

The second case involved this post:

"It's guys like you who support thievery that creates the need for people to lock their bicycles up and get alarm systems for their houses at night in Asheville. "

I replied crudely;

You're the kind of guy that I wouldn't want to bend over in front of less you take some pleasure from it.

This post was an assault on my character. I do not harbor criminals, I have no criminal history, I have a good financial history. My family has been in Asheville 90 years. I'm a law and order kind of guy and I ride bicycles.

This post was one of many responses that came as a result of my, and others, finding that Mtechs represent a reasonable value.

In the context of this thread this too qualifies as a provokation.

Additionally, I was dinged for language in one post "B******T" but I was just quoting another post here - this may not have been clear.

My point is yes I replied harshly but this is far from a one-sided event.

I request a review of this situation by the supreme court of moderators.

I am certainly guilty of poor behaviour but I believe there are mitigating circumstances.

You defend the actions of thieves and unethical business practices. So law abiding does not wash and you should expect the reaction you got.

Rather than offering any legit argument for your stance you started using language that is not acceptable in the general forums and you were infracted. This is something you are quite familiar with as I see from past infratctions.

You made the choice to use the language that you used.

You have been warned in the past and you have two pages of infractions many of which pertain to the language you used.

You excuse is weak, you have a past of doing the same thing here. Maybe you should get control of yourself instead of making excuses.

First you are one of the moderators that dinged me - this hardly constitutes a review.

That is blatantly untrue.

My first three posts, the third after three pages of discussion, are merely a defense of the value of the knife.

They are on point responses to the value of the knife - the subject of the thread and a direct response to the poster who initiated the thread.

At no time did I comment on the ethics of Mtech - I did not offer a comment in support of these or condone the same.

I am more educated than most about the knife industry and well aware of Mtech (like any newbie here is aware of this) and in fact have made a mission out of pointing out custom fakes where the monetary harm to the consumer is the greatest.

I am called a fanboy and a crook for my efforts.

Finally in post 4, for me, after it is clear the discussion is going to be all about ethics; I make the following post - a statement of the obvious. A point for debate.

"Copying designs? Name a single industry where this isn't and hasn't been commonplace forever. That's the nature of the world - someone comes up with a good design or idea and somewhere someone will attempt to produce something similar.

The discussion is already downhill through no fault of my own - after the posts above, I responded as indicated.

Your last post to the discussion mirrors your response here.

"Bottom line of all this is that we have a poster who has no problem supporting unethical businesses and defends it while we have other posters who do not wish to do so."

Should read: We have a few posters who have no problem supporting the value of these knives and we have a few others that will insult them if they do.

I offered a legitimate argument for the value of the knife and I wasn't the first to use innapropriate language.

Averageguy, it's already been reviewed.

You are four points away from being automatically banned. Only an exercise in self-control and restraint on your part will save you.

Let's see if you have it in you to make it through.

averageguy, you had 2 supermoderators involved at the end of that thread. I told everyone to watch their rhetoric and Bastid closed the thread. You want a review -- sorry about that, but we are not the Supreme Court here. They have a lot of clerks running around doing groundwork and they get paid nicely for their efforts.

We, instead, get it right the first time. The whole thread had turned into a troll. You did not help yourself either.

It's pretty clear what happenend here and I get a 40 point neverending infraction?

And Jones got it right?

How many points did the poster get for calling me a fucking moron?

a piece of advice...from a person who has been here a while...and NOT a moderator..

1. Shut up now.
2. Live and learn.
3. Get over it...
4. its the internet dont get butthurt so easy......

You want to offer some proof?

Show me where any moderator here has shown favortism when doing his job.

I take umbrage to this because I work very hard to remain as unbiased as possible when doing my job. I know the other mods do as well.

I want proof of what you say. You can PM me if you like or even email me if you'd like to keep it confidential.

I'm waiting.

Posts like this one are going to put the mods radar on you in the future. Why would you want to piss them off? That seems counterproductive to me.

Averageguy is paying for past mistakes. Stuff that might have just gotten him a warning, got him an infraction because he has already been warned, and has already received infractions for the same conduct. The conduct of others and what happens to them if they get out of line is not under averageguy's control. His own actions are. He should know better.

Show me.

I spend more than a little time reading stuff on these boards. I have not observed the mods being "unfair the majority of the time" whether or not any kissing was performed.

Riding herd on this group of yahoos is a tough job and my hat is off to the mods for the service they perform.

..show the proof...:foot: I have been a member of this board for years.. and yes I have gotten infractions also...from people I consider friends..soooo?????

Gerberblades, it's too late to delete what others have already quoted/copied, but what you wrote is a perfect definition of "mod sass", 40 infraction points that do not expire. Would you like to rethink your position?

If that's how you think we operate, you do not belong here. We don't need any butt-kissing, but we will not take deliberate insults. The clock is ticking.

Let me just jump in here and say a few things about the mods...

1. The job they do is vouluntary. They are not paid, nor do they recieve much praise..or even a T shirt for thier duties.

2. They like the rest of us are human, get tired, grumpy, and sometimes ( although in my almost ten years rarely) will make a mistake.

3. The people who moderate these boards have a life long love of knives and often know personally many people on this board because they are part of the knife industry. Thus there may be a perception of butt kissing but in reality I know many of these Mods as friends and have been to thier homes and have been with them at shows. We hang together, we are friends.

4. The mods also have a history of making the "right call" more often than the wrong call. In my opinion this board has the most lenient mods of any board I am a member of. ( and I am a member of several ). With the exception of foul language in family friendly areas, dissing a makers work, or bringing in a persons family into a negative flame fight...the mods are very lenient.

So I think personally it is unfair to bitch and moan about a moderator in a public setting such as Service and Support. If you have a particular beef with a Mod. Take it up with Sparkles or the Mod personally via email or PM...but be nice about it....

Off my soap box type thingy..and back to my corner where I can be foul and curse...

I get tired of these delusions some times, but the cluelessness is always interesting :D

Think I'll watch the rest of US/Brazil volleyball game. Been pretty good so far.

And being friends is not kising butt, especially when many of were friends before we were mods.

Some of the best mods we have here aren't even officially mods, but they report threads on the wrong forum for us to move or they intervene online to cool off arguments when they can or they jump in with information to help new guys.

They aren't doing it for us, they're doing it fo the forums and the other members.

Amen to that Esav.

We have a lot of great members here who take the time to help us out. Many realize that there is a community here and do what they can to keep things civil.
