I don't really wish to revisit the MTech discussion, as I think everything that needed to be said has been said. I will however address the manner in which the discussion was conducted.
Look, I understand this is a boys club and I know there are rules. I went outside of those rules and took on a couple of makers who were quite passionate about their animus of Mtech.
I apologize.
It's not against the "rules" to say what you said. Everybody's entitled to their opinion. However, your opinion diametrically opposes those of upstanding knifemakers and the knifelovers who support them. And then you acted affronted and indignant when you were called out for your opinion. I take issue with your opinion because it's morally and ethically contrary to mine. Knifemakers like Sal Glesser and Todd Begg, who both participated in that thread and have been personally
ripped off by MTech take issue with your opinion for obvious reasons. People that share your opinion, or are ignorant of MTech's lack of morals, are detrimental to the industry as a whole.
You don't go to Sturgis wearing a "HARLEYS SUCK!" T-shirt, then get all whiny about it when you get your ass kicked by 500,000 bikers. No more than you should go to a knife community and say "MTECHS RULE!" and not expect flack from anybody with a clue.
My other problem with your comments in that thread is the way you completely skirted the issue of MTech's lack of morals and ethics. You either ignored it, or you tried to justify it with phrases like "good value" or the "other companies do it too" argument. You said some stupid crap, and backed it up with even stupider crap. And again you get huffy and puffy when called out on it.
However, that isn't where you went wrong and received the infractions. This is:

averageguy,
It's guys like you who support thievery that creates the need for people to lock their bicycles up and get alarm systems for their houses at night in Asheville.

What kind of retarded remark is that - how does that make any sense? How do you draw an association like that? You're the kind of guy that I wouldn't want to bend over in front of less you take some pleasure from it.
Firstly, there's not even an argument here (unless you're Peewee Herman, or 7 years old). Then, in so many words, you call Brian an ass-raping homo. Then claim that there's "mitigating circumstances" for your behavior.
If this is a "Supreme Court", saying something like that to
anybody in the courtroom would land you in Contempt, with a fine and jail time. And you said it to the Judge. Not too bright.
You were called a "crook". You were called a "frigging moron". You called somebody an "asshole".
But the "but he started it!" argument didn't work in 2nd grade. It doesn't work in the Supreme Court. It doesn't work here.
Please review my opening posts and consider whether or not it would be appropriate to reduce my infraction so that there is a chance of me remaining on this board.
You haven't been banned yet. You're pretty close, apparently, but you're still here. Keep your nose clean. Stop saying stupid stuff, then whining about it when you're called out on it. And FCS, if you do have to whine about it, don't keep saying more stupid stuff. I'll freely admit that, while I'm not
trying to get you banned, I won't miss you if you are. But you're digging your own hole, with a shovel nobody else gave you. You're bringing your own rope to your hanging. Stop saying stupid crap!
