April 2020 Buck of the Month - Released

I wish this April 2020 bom could have a non-black blade... I really am not a fan of 'tacti-coats' : )

...sometimes I am okay with TiCN coatings which tend to be grey, but it makes more sense on non-stainless

My first ever BOTM arrived today. Its a little strange that I chose this one to buy as my first. I'm not a big fan of flippers. I like my Vantages ok, but I almost always use the thumb hole to open them. I don't particularly care for the protruding flipper triangle thingy. Liner locks aren't my favorite either, although I own several so there is no real reason for that, other than personal preference. I also read the Magic Pants thread about Sprints opening unattended in the pocket and I usually carry the same way as the op of that thread, i.e. right handed, but carry in left pocket.

So... with all that said why would I buy a flipper liner lock at a premium price? Well... I've been alone a lot lately at home waiting out the sickness, and I made a discovery that most of you are probably unaware of: you can buy stuff on the intrerweb with a credit card! View attachment 1340068
How great is that? :p

So without further ado my initial impressions:

I like the handle a lot. The micarta and the shape feels great in hand. It feel like I could cut a lot and it would still be comfortable. I imagine the pocket clip would eventually be a hot spot, like most of them, but just sitting here playing with it, the clip is barely noticeable. I can't say that about every knife in my collection. The color is a little more black and a little less white than I was expecting, but I think it looks great. I like it better than I thought I would, which is always a pleasant surprise :)

It certainly flips open easily. Much easier than the aforementioned Vantages. Its pretty cool  If it opens in my pants  I'll be less thrilled. It'll be fun to play with though, until I cut myself  This is the first ball bearing knife I have and its impressive. It also seems to have enough detent to stay closed. I can't shake it open or anything

Its a very solid feeling knife. I like the size and weight. The weight seems well balanced. At least to me. The blade locks up solid. Absolutely no play in any direction.

I haven't cut anything with it except to shave some arm hair. It does really well at this :thumbsup::thumbsup::p

I like the otnat blade shape.

I experienced some buyer's remorse after I pulled the trigger for all the reasons detailed in the first paragraph. I'm very pleased with this knife. Buck just seems to keep getting it right. Especially with the ergonomics. After it gets carried some I may change my mind, but as of today, I'm glad I bought it :)

I am the OP from that "Magic Pants" thread and I will say that the replacement knife that Buck sent out to me seemed to of fixed the issue. The new Sprint they sent out will not open on its own with the simple flick of the wrist like my other one did. So, I'm assuming I wont get a pants surprise. Wow, I really need to start thinking about how I word things and make better choices.

I was also carrying other knives I like in my right pocket for the week while Buck was looking at my Sprint to see if I can train myself to carry right vs. left pocket. I still favor my left pocket but I'm getting used to the right. What I don't like about my Sprint in my right pocket is the size of that clip and how much it protrudes out. I'm worried that I'm going to make a nice scratch on the truck when getting into the drivers seat.

I carried it all day in the left tool pocket of a pair of Carhartt's with no surprises. It will open with a flick of the wrist, but it takes three pretty stout flicks. My Benchmade 940 that I've had forever, will also open with a couple of good wrist flicks and its never opened in my pants (you may be right about the wording here) so I think I'm good with the Sprint. I quit carrying my Kershaw Leek due to its unintended in pocket opening. Its got a lock, but what's the point of an assisted opening knife, if you have to take the time to unlock it before you can flip it open? Defeats the purpose IMO.

The Sprint is turning out to be one of those pleasant surprises. I'm still in the honeymoon phase, so subject to change, but I'm liking it quite a lot. Gratuitous pic:

Took a file to my clip and just took a bit off of that edge, so now its more rounded instead of whatever the heck that other shape was. Didnt seem to make a difference in how the clip grabs the pant pocket which is good, but its now also not so dang large (which is also good). I'm not as worried about scratching the paint on my truck door. If it becomes an issue I'll just go back to my tried-and-true left pocket carry. HA!

I just received my Sprint OPS Pro. I love the knife in all respects...blade material/coating/edge, handle color/texture, skeletonized flipper, and weight...except the ease with which the blade deploys from the handle. It's too easy. (It won't flip out with multiple flicks of the wrist.)
Do any of you know how to increase the resistance on the flipper?

Short of bending the liner lock further over I don’t know of any fix. The sprint has always had really light detent. I’m surprised it hasn’t been fixed yet.

PS: you will probably void the warranty if you bend the lock bar.

We made the detent more robust about 6 months ago.

OP If yours is not holding good (too light), get ahold of us.
