April 2025 BOTM - 104 Compadre Camp Knife

This is a soft pass for me. I like the Compadre but have four already. Plus I've spent too much on knives and toys already this month. I do like the clip point on this one.

On the other hand, it is my birthday month - one on order! This is one I know I would regret not getting as soon as they were sold out. (I think whenever I post "soft pass", it actually means "delayed purchase".)

A Cruwear 104 would be my dream.

I love my regular 104, it's my favorite camp knife that I've ever had. like micarta better than G-10, and I like the fact that I can beat the hell out of it without worrying about damaging a $225 knife. 5160 is tougher than nails and easy to sharpen.

That's a lot of words to say that I like it, but I'll pass.

My birthday is in August. But it starts with the same letter as this month. Therefore, I am justified in ordering one. Whew!

So why are the rivets brass and why are they PVD coated? Is it only for corrosion resistance? They kind of stick out in a way that I am not sure is pleasant. Would some other color rivets have looked better? Could they have hidden the rivets? Would no rivets not be strong enough? I am hoping people will answer these riveting questions.
