aquiring a Hinderer knife

still waiting for an account at USN, won't let me make one with a free email provider :(

You guys just missed two posted by Rob at retail on USN sitting here complaining. Let's move on and let the free market be.

 I haven't seen any at USN yesterday? Sure about that info?

Check the thread on USN about the new screws. Rob was a little sneakier than usual this time.

My son's an IT designer, maybe I can get him to make a utility that sends me an email or alert whenever Rick, Rob and some others post.

If he can't make one, I'm going to go to the guy that hypnotized me to quit smoking and have him hypnotize me that XM's suck........it didn't work for smoking either. :D

I did manage to get one: Its a Gen 3, in green, with CTSXHP markings on the blade. I dont know if it's a 18 or 24, but it is 3.5 inch blade, flipper style, it looks like a satin finish.

I am not sure I like the flipper, but I am going to go with it for now. This because, I close the liner locks against my leg and the flipper catchs my thumb - sort of like a pair of pliers. But I can work with this.

This knife overall is probably the heaviest duty folder I have ever held. I has an easy movement when the blade swings open, and locks with a confident 'snick' sound. Upon closing, there is a confident click that is very positive. There is a heft to this knife unlike any other folder I've had, it it not heavy, but lets you know that you are holding a tool. It will sit deep in the pocket -point up and to the rear - my favorite pocket position.

This knife is right up there with my Sebenza (which in my humble opinion is the TOP DOG of folders), and which I have carried for about 10 years, - and may even surpass my venerable Sebbie.
Though I'd need to carry this for a few years to make that proclaimation - buy this knife certainly has the potential to have my rating as top dog.

Thanks guys - if there is any doubt as the heavy duty capability of the Hinderer folder, go get one, and let there be none.

TerryL, once you play with the flipper you'll love it I'm pretty sure.

I think the people who prefer non-flipper are in the minority. Flipper is just too much fun!:thumbup::thumbup:

I saw that one and blew it off. So he snuck some XM's in there eh? Have to go and re-check - d*mmit in advance though - closed out on both forums last night.

Whenever a dealer post a brand new XM-18 on their website it only take minutes for it to become SOLD. Bookmarking these sites and setting up email notifications if a Hinderer knife becomes available certainly helps but seems like you need to make it a homepage and constantly clicking the refresh button 24/7. Welcome! you're officially a knife nut (like the rest of us).

Very true, edcknives also had 2 up for sale yesterday, he announced it on usn before adding or as he added them. Took less than 10 minutes for them both to be sold. Easiest way is secondary market, or join the military, haha!

There is a 3.5 non flipper gen III new/unused on the JD for 550.00 plus paypal fees.
Not cheap but better than the 630.00 I paid for mine:)

Try usualsuspect.net. I am still waiting to be authorized by the admin.

Is it an exclusive forum, or can it only handle a certain amount of users at one time? Is this perhaps why registration has to be approved?

I'm loving the XM-18 3.5" Flipper. looks great and looks built VERY well. If only they were $350-400 and not the $500-700 everyone pays. Price needs to come down so more common folk can own them spread the word and more people can then buy them. Make it up in quantity kind of deal, except I'm sure that is not possible. Until I can somehow acquire one for $350-400 I'll never own one.

I almost missed it; it was kind of blending in with the Striders. I'm tempted by the green one. The prices seem to be ranging from $395-525 for dealers. Most that I've seen are 475-525. My first 3.5" that I got I bought for $475, and I thought I was getting a steal.
