AR M4 style rifle, which one?

sometimes topics can wonder a bit but imho thats what makes them fun.

thanks for your input though lol.

Stage2 i'm trying to not get this all going again
And i dont consider 2 people dead a massacre...a sad shame but not a massacre
?What movie was it were a bloke says kill 10 people and your a seriel killer, kill 10,000 and your a revolutionist?

If anyone is still looking for opinions on AR type rifles, I love mine. Stag Arms 16inch upper, Rock River lower with polished trigger, magpul CTR/MIAD furniture and a Holosight. I haven't shot for groups off a rest, but with Black Hills 55gr ammo it will easily ring all the 6"plates I want @ 100yrds. I have about 1300 rounds through it and no malfunctions.

Oh and I own it because it was fun to build, fun to shoot, and will penetrate walls less than my .45 if some evil-doer makes the bad decision to break into my house. Also because I can.

BUSHMASTER MODULAR CARBINE!!!! Had one for 8 months and LOVE it. The real choice comes down to optics.... The Bushmaster modular carbines are top quality and the only thing on mine that I wish to change (from factory) is the stock. I'm going with a Magpul CTR, GriPpod, Green laser w/ Huge Flashlight and probably a Nightforce scope.
If you want an awesome optic on the cheap definitely check out Millett. Really nice shit.
Welcome to the DarkSide!!!

Then, as with most of this conversation, you've missed the point. I don't care what you call it, but shooting seven people in broad daylight because you've snapped is what these laws were trying to prevent.

Yes only 2 people died. Maybe because thats because the others were just lucky (though I'd hardly call being shot by a stranger lucky). Maybe its because the guy was a piss poor shot. Who knows. The point is that anyone who wants to go postal still can even with the nanny laws your country now has. As a result, they haven't changed anything.

The bottom line is that before you gun ban, the odds of you being killed in a random massacre were something along the lines of being hit by lightening. Since the gun ban, the odds are still the same. The only difference is that millions of people have lost their rights.

I suppose the reason why this enrages Americans and why you just shrug your shoulders is what I said at the very beginning of this discussion about the difference between a citizen and a subject. I suppose once you've lived as one long enough you no longer desire your own freedom or sovereignty.

yeah...nah still don't care
I,m sure you'll get over it Stage2...or is it StageFright???

Hey Infi-Del what the eff is that in your profile pic.....wow

Gosh I cant believe I missed this thread. Where the F have I been for the last month? I cant read this whole thing so I'll just start with the original question...

IMO you should skip the AR15 and go straight to an Armalite AR10 or a DPMS .308 but if you are set on a AR-15 then here is my input on the subject.

I have built several AR's Big ones and small ones, cheep ones and way over the top ones. The one thing I love about them VS an AK (i also own a YuGO AK) is they are Modular. You can build them from the ground up any way you want. There is no limit to the combinations that you can come up with therefor every rifle is unique to its owner/builder.

ANYONE CAN BUILD AN AR!!!!!! that includes RUGER. Mostly there is only 4 things that make an accurate rifle...the barrel, the optics, the trigger pull and the guy pulling the trigger. Of those 4 things only two of them are part of the rifle...the barrel and the trigger. Buy a good barrel. I like noveske, but there are a number of good barrels out there. Buy a good trigger. I like the RRA 2 stage match triggers. They are easy breezy beautiful.

In regards to the reciever platform you choose to build your AR on, there is only one thing to consider, the finish. There are 50 different makers of upper/lower recievers. They alll have a slightly different finish. What finish suites you? Other than that, you may have fitment issues in a very rare case but they are bassically all the same. Also you need to decide wether you want M4 style feed ramps or traditional feed ramps because you need to buy the upper and the barrel to match.

Beyond that, its all about the furniture. What do you want from your AR? Long range? Close Quarter Combat? Build it to suite what you invision.

Also, piston systems are a newer deal for the AR and expensive. I have a cmmg piston and its been flawless so far, but I only have 500 rounds throught it so I dont know how it will perform long term. But i know you can build a piston system rifle for much cheeper than they are asking for the RUGER SR556.

Good luck.

LoL good onya Mikey and Stage
Thats right your the "Land of the Free" and we are "the Lucky Country"
gawd get over yourselves..yes Americas great..we worship you..you guys are so blessed..suck suck slurp...happy
....
Right now where was I
Right, you'll have to forgive me, i dont know a huge amount about guns as my government has oppressed me But

Hey Infi-Del..it looks awsome but the front looks like riot gear and the back looks like a standard stock? is that the way they come out?...

We use an awsome gun at work for shooting the Furnace throat
Its a Kiln gun and we go through about 400 shells in half an hour(single shot)
takes 8 gauge solid slug shotty shells
Mounted with adjusting wheels for vertical and horizontal lift
And a silencer..suckers about a meter and a half long
A mean mutha
Now if only i can work out how to fit it to my truck to go shooting roo's and i'd be laughing
If anybody wants to see it ..as i cant post pics, i can email them to you

I don't own that gun, it's either a proto or little used model. Think it's made over seas. The crap on the front is grenade sights so you can lob it in. The pump has to be out that far cause a 40 mil grenade is like 5 inches long so you gotta have a generous stroke. And like with any shotgun type weapon the mag tube is gonna be almost the same size as the barrel and well, the 40 mil ain't a little cartridge. Don't know why they put a wood stock on it. Seems like steel with a serious wuss pad would have been more sturdy.

Ahhh, a man that speaks my language. When firepower and accuracy are what you need AR10 is the way to go. Heavy sucker with a bull stainless barrel and toating a full battle pack of ammo. But man are you ready for just about anything with that beast. I LOVE mine.
