Is asking the question "Carbon content affects whether a metal is true stainless or not" a bad question?
I get your one way or another. The carbon content of a metal defines whether a metal is true stainless or not, period.
Chill, T TC We've moved along since then. No further replies on this topic or they will be moved offline.I would not be a bad question. But you made it into a statement of absolute fact:
Why not take it easy on your first day here and relax a little. No one's out to get or belittle you - why, we hardly know you at all.
Stick around, get the lay of the land, and prepare to spend a lot more on knives than you expected when signing up.![]()
You're a mensch. For the record, I responded before getting to "since then" in the thread...And I thought I was pretty friendly, overall.
You killed the thread. In case anyone forgot, I still like Tops knives.
I believe it is actually the chromium content that determines whether or not it is stainless. Carbon content generally determines hardenability. Is asking the question "Carbon content affects whether a metal is true stainless or not" a bad question?
Thank You.I believe it is actually the chromium content that determines whether or not it is stainless. Carbon content generally determines hardenability.
Many companies should thin out their knives. For my use (unless I am mistaking it for a hatchet) anything over 1/8 inch is too thick. Usually I reach for something thinner than .09 inch. I blame the internet batoning videos for that.I wish tops will thin out their thickness and stop making as many funny looking knives. The rapid strike was a good hit, keep that train of inspiration coming
