Are Frost Knives on the Knife show (cutlery corner) really that bad?

Years ago, being dumb and uninformed I bought a 10-pack of Frost knives from one of the shopping channels after imbiding too much tequila.

I used up 6 of them up completely trimming up some grout on some newly laid floor tiles. I wore the blades completely down. I called the network and they took them back no questions asked. They didn't seem surprised or push back at all. I'll give them that.

If you check the manifest, it does look like there is 500 knives. Having checked out the photos, they all look icky. The one you get 17 dozen of looks really awful.

i just saw that. 17 dozen of keychain 4 1/4 inch open blades. those sound like crap but they are SS. And its only $100 for 500 blades. if it stays at 100, i can't go wrong.
The bowies with all the holes look like Frost copies. Who would copy a Frost knife? There are lots of gerber copies and a knife with the Emerson wave feature. Wouldn't touch any of them with a ten

Frost doesn't actually make knives. they just import knives from other bad companies.

eta: The majority of the knives in the add are either jaguar or taterhill. Are those companies somewhat decent? At least better than Frost? they seem to look it. anyone own any of their knives?

I'm sooo stinkin' deflated, as is the value of my fabulous (and massive) Frost Cutlery knife collection , due to the quality / worth accounts some of you are sharing. :(

I will add, the value of my massive gathering did decrease, slightly, when I had to build the addition onto my house to display my collection. Boy, try displaying 83,212 knives !

From a financial standpoint, there is no way to go wrong ? 500 knives for less than five or six cents apiece ! Pfffff.

Shame on some of you'ens.

sdgdfg. . . .don't listen or share anymore information with this buncha haters. You're on to something BIG and several in this thread will probably take your idea(s) and become your biggest competition !

You go girl. . . .or guy ! :D

save your money and forget thoes knives. buy some real knives from a company listed here or from the one stop knife shop (owned by kevin who also owns bladforums). most of thoes knives are pakistan and i wouldnt doubt it if some or all of that money goes to some nut like bin laden.

I'm not sure even good ol' Osama would want his name associated with Frost knives.

Best use for Frost knives....ART ;)

The only Frosts I buy, are the steel warrior pocket knives. all take a good edge, and seem to wear well. The rest of their stuff I can't comment on.

Change the channel on your TV set. You REALLY don't want to buy that junk.

I think they make the best knives ever produced. I would feel completely safe using one of those awesome big ugly things as a survival knife. I would definitely use one of their folders as an everyday carry knife. I would just have to make sure that I order 365 of them a year, so I have one to carry as it probably wouldn't last longer than a day.

Does anyone remember when that guy was hacking that table with one of the swords and the sword snapped and stabbed him? Pure hilarity.

sorry for reviving this thread but:

damn! i wish i had found this thread before i just purchased 3 frost cutlerys off ebay. I guess i should have known better when it sold for $1:(

Mods: please don't hurt me too much for trying to "sell" these, when i dont have a paid membership.

damnit. well maybe i can sell it back on ebay to some other idiot...

I guess this isn't the right place to sell a "knife" since you all know better.

You can tell where the Frost knife booth is at the Flea Market by all of the ten year olds and little punk posers. I was only there to get some of those fine MADE IN CHINA tools, I did get some silver half dollars for about half of the Red Book value.

They are what they are, cheap. Their pocket knives(steel warrior and frost family) are good value for the money. Alot of their metal handled folders, although low end, are actually done in the same plants in China as knives offered by alot of other companies. Many of whom are well respected. The knives that a guy should avoid are the plastic handled ones. They are great for cutting the strings off haybales, but not much else. I actually own alot of the Frost stuff, but very quickly learned what to avoid. I also own knives made by BM, Boker, Katz, Case, H&R and Fox, and find alot of the Frost knives to be OK - FOR THE MONEY. Do not expect to get anything special! They put up with lightduty use, and should be used as such. As a spare or beater they work fine. Remember that you do not need to spend $150 to open a cardboard box or have something in your tackle box to cut line.

You're absolutely correct! That's where Opinels, Moras, and Spyderco's Byrd line really shine. I won't comment on Frost.........except to say it'll be a frosty:D day in hell when I buy one!

Boy, I sure wouldn't want to be under that piece of art if it ever fell.

But if you were, I can just imagine it:

Giant ball of crap knives land on Keith, most of them snapping and bending as they hit Keith's super-tough melon

Keith M: "OHHHHH!" (falls to ground)

Keith M: "That one got me, O'dell!" (picks self up from ground and hides behind giant table)

O'dell: (off camera) "Y'alright?"

Keith M: "That one got me good!"

O'dell: (on camera-with stupid look on face) "Folks, right now, we may need emergency surgery in the studio!" (even dumber look on face)

:D:p:D
