Big Z, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. A lot of people don't understand that the loss of a beloved pet hurts as much as the loss of a person close to you. You and your wife have my sincere sympathy.

Regards,

Antonella

Can my two kids count. They eat too much and sometimes bite the ---- out of me. And they are loyal.

Interesting thread, I've always had a dog in the family. Back in Poland (no polack jokes you heathen
wink.gif
) we had a half German Sheperd /half wolf (I kid you not) mix, my mom's dog of all people, that dog's head was at her shoulder, had a dalmation at the same time. The dalmation was the house dog, the shep/wolf the outside dog. After moving to the states a German Sheperd then a Irish Setter (gorgeous dog, but stupid) and now we've got a chow chow black shepard mix. Nika (that's Polish for Nike, the greek goddess not the shoe)is definetly a home protecter, doesn't like anyone but family and lets you know it, she's the smallest dog we've ever had (at 65lbs) and probably has the biggest chip on her shoulder.

Mixed 3/4 lab 1/4 golden (third generation from a Lab someone gave me when I was in school) and a Chow. Chow is dumb as a box of rocks but sweet the "lab" is the smartest dog I have ever owned. I do not even use a leash for her under any conditions she is right at my hip until I say OK.

Big Z - My sincerest condolences I know too well what it is like.

I love dogs, especially big dogs. I don't own one because I live a real small place in the city, but I'd have a whole bunch of them if I could. My mom never let me have a dog when I was a kid 'cause she was afraid of them - I was DEPRIVED

I'm always petting other people's dogs. A few months ago, I'm walking down the street and there's this woman standing in front of some store with her dog, a beautiful Lab. I fell in love! I went over to the dog and started rubbing it down and talking to it (you know, "What a nice doggie!", "You're a beautiful doggie, aren't you?", etc. etc.). 5 minutes go by, and the woman starts smiling and laughing to herself. I guess it was because I was paying so much attention to her dog and I hadn't even said a word to her.

Sorry I took the long way around to answering your question, Antonella. The answer is YES, knife and gun people ARE dog people too - or at least I am.

Hey James, think you guys might have a dog instead of a knife for next month's giveaway? Sounds crazy, I know, but I figured it was worth a shot.

BladeForums is the best!

The dog in my world is Zorro, a 65 pound McNabb. He works on hand signals and does the
whole cow dog bit. Despite his working dog ethic, I think he would argue as to whether I am his
owner of vice versa.

Well, An 85 pound slober factory is permanently attached around a tenis ball that seems to wonder my house.

His name is Houdini, he is bure bred black lab, shiny coat gorgeous shape, no back hips....

He has a strange way of bringing me a wooden practice sword so that I can chase him around the house with it..

Strange dog, fits the owner.

Does an 85lb 7 year old Dalmaition count??? Kenya is as protective of our house and inhabitants as any guard dog I've met. Taking her for a walk means running and I'm starting to get too old for that, so she uses her dog run extensively on the back of my 2 acre fenced lot.

Never had a dog as a kid....allergies of my kin ruled that out.

Yes, mostly definitel then some. I have a German Shepherd dog that is 5 years old. He follows me everywhere I go. When I sleep at night, he is at the end of the bed sleeping. If I get up and go to the bathroom ,he is just outside guarding the door. The only thing that I still like, is I spoiled him when he was as small as the palm of my hand. You see, I used to ride him on my 3-Wheeler. Now at 110 lbs when I ride on the 3-wheeler, he rides with me on my Red Honda 200S 3-Wheeler. I put him on my gas tank with his 2 rear legs on the seat and 2 front legs on the gas tank. Then, I ride around out in the country and as I pass cars, "I pick his paw up and wave at the Oncoming Cars". Thats country, I love it. I keep him at my Mom and Dad's house in Mississippi. He can jump an unbelievable 7 feet in the air counting the tip of his nose, chases cats, fights other male dogs, loves to ride 3-wheelers, gets lost when other female dogs are in heat in the neighborhood,, and follows me everywhere.
Yep, I am one of a Knife People, Gun people, Dog People, Cat People, Computer People, 3-wheeler People, 55 Chevy (red and White) Car People, Camera People and Truck People.

Hey ChrisH, I knew it by the name! Had to be a Schipperke! I recently aquired a model W (for WIRED!) Belgium made Stealth Dog myself.
Ya gotta be careful about letting them out at night...they disappear! These LBD's may not be your "big bad macho" dog, but don't try to tell them that. Tasha takes on my roomates 120 lb. Akita all the time. Thank God, Bubba just gently knocks her out of the way. Greatest little dogs!

Hey Steve, is your Chevy a 2 door hardtop? My first car was an old 55 Chevy 2 door hard top Belaire and I loved it! I now own a 65 Mustang 2+2 fastback with a Boss 302 engine. It was just repainted and looks extremely snazzy. I used to have a 67 Shelby, green with white stripes but I sold it because the insurance was way too high for a struggling college student, plus it was when I lived in San Antonio, car theft capital of Texas. I sold it to a guy in Wyoming who now races it in Canada. He still sends me pictures of her so she's doing real well!

Antonella

Antonella, yes my 55 Chevy Belair is a hard top. It is red on bottum and white on top. It has red/white interior too. My Dad had it totally restored in 1984. Just this summer, I had the outside repainted the same; red on bottum and white on top because after 14 years it had faded. I keep a car cover on it at all times and locked up in my Dad's carport. Me and wife get in it and drive to Sonic (our favorite restaurant) usually on the weekend. And take it to car shows too where I have won a few times. However, got bored and now want to go to Knife shows too. But still will always love going to car shows so as to talk to other people doing same.

Thansk,

Seems as if the answere to your question is yes.
My first one was a Foxterrier who´s now playing with my Bully somewhere in heaven and the two are sure raising hell among the critters on gods farm...
Right now my canine tag team is made up of the nicest Labradorian Lady I know and her little Jack Russel companion. Although the little one always diturbs her while hunting for moles and rats, they love each other as dearly as I love them.
Greetings
Michael

Spark and I are apparantly the only "weasel people" here?! Although I'm temporarily fertless (due to theft, long nasty tale) I'll have another soon. I know a breeder in Virginia that specializes in 6lbs and even 7lbs "megaferrets", absolute giants. Not fatties, either, real playful.

Lemme tell ya, a seven pound healthy ferret is easily the combat equivelent of a 70lbs+ dog. It's the "Mad Dog of Ferrets"! It's a huge double-armload of weasel that no dog in it's right mind would screw with.

If you guys haven't seen ferrets at play, you're missing something. You can't begin to comprehend the absolute insanity of them flinging themselves around recklessly at top speed, vertical and horizontal. "Timid" just ain't in the vocabulary, we're talking funtime being them grabbing the tip of your sock in their teeth and being flung around in circles...then letting go, flying across the room, landing, bouncing around like flubber on acid and then running back for more.

Or...watching a 70lbs Doberman back up warily from a playful bouncing 1.5lbs fert who just wants to play. And watching the dog's owner splutter about how "but Rover kills cats all the time, and that thing's smaller!".

Snort. For absolute pure guts, nothing beats a ferret, at least not among domestic animals.

Relatives: weasel, mink, badger, otter, WOLVERINE.

'nuff said.

Our two dogs are both Weimaraners - an 85# male, and a 65# female. Nothing gets by them, so we have a pretty effective early warning system. They also draw in a lot of friendlies, some of whom have become good friends.

Used to have a German shepard/Collie mix and a beautiful black 100+lb. Doberdane. Saddly they`re both gone now. I recently found a breeded that sells Timber shepards (1/2 G. Shepard, 1/2 Timberwolf),I`ve gotta have one! But it`ll have to wait till the missus and I move somewhere where it can have some room to run. Doh. Marcus
