I'm Looking for a good bushcraft knife. I want to try a mora because of the price and stellar reviews. Is it a problem that the're not a full tang? Should I just save up for a Esee or something like that? I really don't have a lot of money and would like to get crafting soon! :)

Do a search on Moras. There are Many Threads about these!!!

You only have 2 posts, tell the system work for you.:D

Don't worry about the tang, they're great bushcraft knives and you can't really go wrong with them for their price. Check out either the Classic or the Companion.

Great knife that is made to cut. It's a way better cutter than my Esee 4.

The Clipper is a good place to start. The Robust is the same knife with a little thicker blade.

I like the carbon Moras better than the stainless ones too.

I just got my first classic two days ago and yesterday took it hiking to test it out. You can't understand until you try it. The lack of full tang is no reason to pass it up. Think smart and it's more knife than you'll need:thumbup:

Yes they're good and excellent value for money. They're not made for smacking through a log with another smaller log but unless you want to spend a lot or really know what youre doing then all bets are off if you're batoning anyway.

Battong, like all knife skills, has 2 important aspects: the knife and the user.

The Mora Companion is my go-to woods knife. So yes, I think they're excellent. I think they're more excellent when convexed a bit.

I baton with mine when running my Emberlit stove. I use it wood smaller than wrist sized - about the max that the 4" blade will get through. The deal is to recognize when you hit a hard knot and backing off and not trying to force it. You can bust just about knife you're willing to lug in the woods.

Here's mine with a horizontal dangler mod to the sheath.

I would recommend if you do get a mora, which you should, take a few minutes and watch cody lundin different techniques regarding the Mora knife. I'm sure there are other teachers who use Mora but he comes to mind. He has a few short videos about using physics and the Mora and it'll handle anything you need!

As everyone has said they're great knives...just don't expect to be batoning past it's limitations and chopping with it..other than that they're great

Moras are probably the most sold knife of its kind in the world.
There must be a good reason for that...

If you dont like it, Most are less than 20$.
Fwiw, I buy case of 15 Mora Clippers at a time, works out about 7.00$ each

Look, I'm going to save you some trouble, since no one else has warned you. The thing is, most of them have likely already been infected, so they don't really know what they are saying anymore. Mora's are like Mogwai. You might start with one, but pretty soon there's another one, then more, suddenly you've got a box full. Then some day you are sitting around a little bored and you start to ponder.... What would this knife be like if it had x? next thing you know you are up to your elbows in files, sandpaper, glue, leather and a simple mod turns into monster!

Buy the ESEE 4, never look back, be happy with a knife and an empty wallet, never wonder what it could have been like, save yourself while you have the chance, go on living your life believing that every dollar you spent on that knife was worth it. Do what the rest of us can no longer do!

Because you can't ever just have one mora. Even if only one makes into your house, you will always feel that pull for more. Lieblad seems to have it the worst, a case at a time, Sure he might justify it, they make great gifts, NO! He's simply a nexus of the infection, a host spreading the little metal monsters wherever he goes, a Johnny Appleseed of swedish steel.

Oh sure they will say "embrace the simplicity" "know your limits" "Its far lighter than most knives you will ever carry for its size" "The plastic handles come in many colors to suit any mood" "Excellent edge holding combined with easy sharpening" "Why buy one when you can have many" "A style for every purpose"

But you must resit..... must .... resist...

ALL HAIL THE MORA, SHARPEST OF BLADES

BOW TO THE MASTER OF VALUE

GIVE YOURSELF OVER TO THE ANCIENT SWEDISH LORD OF STEEL

But in all seriousness the ESEE-4 is a great knife, <Twitch> BUY THE MORA

BUY THEM ALL

That was weird.....

Buy the Mora Heavy Duty, take care of the blade and wipe it clean after use, don't let it sit wet...

Save up for an ESEE...

Should I just save up for a Esee or something like that?

Only you can answer that question, after giving a Mora a fair try.

They are good outdoors knives, don't cost that much, and are great to help you decide what you really want in a knife.

It might be the right knife for you, or not. Personally I don't like them [emoji33] , But I have to admit they work well.

I've only had good experiences with Mora. I highly recommend you try one. They're so inexpensive that there's no reason not to.

Buy one if only for a back up. Only knife I had after an accident where I lost mostly all of my gear. It and some fishing gear pieces kept me alive for 13 days. Made a shelter and fires etc other then having beaver fever from bad water it was not very horrible experience but with out that knife I'm not sure it would have had the same outcome. I am a firm believer in custom knives especially in dressing lots of animals in the field but the mora does that well enough too if you are in a pinch. Good luck

I got the Bushcraft first, then the rest. The no. 1 Classic is my most used one nowadays, I like how simple, light yet effective it is. Neck carry seems to work really well with these knives, especially in the winter when you can tuck them in your coat so they don't get in the way when not needed. Not pictured is a Mora Allround 8.1 in the kitchen, and a spare Companion in the car.

Get the Mora Companion or the Heavy Duty version. Good knives. I suspect as time passes and you use it, you'll probably get another knife, but not because the Mora was bad. You'll just want another knife as most of us do.
