Are Moras any good?

Moras are like Rabbits once you get one and use it a week or two you will be getting another.

Look, I'm going to save you some trouble, since no one else has warned you. The thing is, most of them have likely already been infected, so they don't really know what they are saying anymore. Mora's are like Mogwai. You might start with one, but pretty soon there's another one, then more, suddenly you've got a box full. Then some day you are sitting around a little bored and you start to ponder.... What would this knife be like if it had x? next thing you know you are up to your elbows in files, sandpaper, glue, leather and a simple mod turns into monster!

Buy the ESEE 4, never look back, be happy with a knife and an empty wallet, never wonder what it could have been like, save yourself while you have the chance, go on living your life believing that every dollar you spent on that knife was worth it. Do what the rest of us can no longer do!

Because you can't ever just have one mora. Even if only one makes into your house, you will always feel that pull for more. Lieblad seems to have it the worst, a case at a time, Sure he might justify it, they make great gifts, NO! He's simply a nexus of the infection, a host spreading the little metal monsters wherever he goes, a Johnny Appleseed of swedish steel.

Oh sure they will say "embrace the simplicity" "know your limits" "Its far lighter than most knives you will ever carry for its size" "The plastic handles come in many colors to suit any mood" "Excellent edge holding combined with easy sharpening" "Why buy one when you can have many" "A style for every purpose"

But you must resit..... must .... resist...

GIVE YOURSELF OVER TO THE ANCIENT SWEDISH LORD OF STEEL

But in all seriousness the ESEE-4 is a great knife, <Twitch> BUY THE MORA

BUY THEM ALL

That was weird.....

LOL!!! That just made my evening!

I try. Just found a new online shop opened up here in australia that has moras for actual decent prices.... I can feel the pull.

Cool. It took a while but I found a place here in Canada that was close to U.S. prices also.

Thats a great way to put it !
I always attend an annual outdoor event whats partly supported by attendees donation to a bucket raffle.
I donate 100$ worth of Moras will generate 3-500$ in revenue. First time I did it, Surprised hell out of me. Folks stuffing upwards of 30-40$ for chance to win a cheap Swedish knife !
Its one of the most popular raffle things going on a several years now & there are alot of other choice things other folks regularly donate...

Just like Johnny Appleseed, those Moras end up at the far reaches of US & Canada.

Fwiw, I grew up in a household awash with Moras. Every drawer, countertop, under the bed, you name it...
Lets just say, I carry on that tradition.

I'm loving these photos of Jerry rigged ways to carry your Moras. I'm going to steal an idea or two!

Actually, I just picked this Mora up today. Paid $4 for it :)

I have other knives, but I keep going back to my Moras. I love the steel, the sharpness, and their mastery of cutting wood. Get one.

I only have one and j have had it for a few years

Not my video, but if you are interested in Moras and bushcraft, it's worth watching. I think this guy uses the knife within its limits.

Moras are awesome.

I have the 2/0, no 1, Companion, Bushcraft Black, Bushcraft Forest, spoon knife, and fillet knife.

Just a good old fashioned no 1 is all you really need for general camp chores and bushcraft type stuff. I love my two Bushcraft models but the no 1 or the 2/0 always seem to be the ones I grab when I head out.

I resisted the whole "just get a mora" thing for a while. Now I have three and I find myself reaching for them more often than my knives that cost 20x more.

I've managed to only buy one so far thou I do want a carbon steel companion to go with my stainless...but only for scientific reasons you know to compare edge retention and stuff...that's the only reason really..... Ok I'm lying I just want it..

I'm Looking for a good bushcraft knife. I want to try a mora because of the price and stellar reviews. Is it a problem that the're not a full tang? Should I just save up for a Esee or something like that? I really don't have a lot of money and would like to get crafting soon! :)

I would assume someone who chose the screen name "outdoorgeargeek" ("geek" being "an expert or enthusiast or a person obsessed with a hobby or intellectual pursuit"), would know the answer to that question.

Odd.

But yeah, they are "good." Very high value...I'm not a fan of scandi grinds....but for that price they are hard knives to beat.

moras work very well and are not expensive. the video posted by dogstar is very impressive; it sows what a skilled person can do without an expensive, heavy "survival" knife.

Buy one if only for a back up. Only knife I had after an accident where I lost mostly all of my gear. It and some fishing gear pieces kept me alive for 13 days. Made a shelter and fires etc other then having beaver fever from bad water it was not very horrible experience but with out that knife I'm not sure it would have had the same outcome. I am a firm believer in custom knives especially in dressing lots of animals in the field but the mora does that well enough too if you are in a pinch. Good luck

Dude! Have you written a book yet?
