Are the flippers / scalpers going to ruin the the fun?

Flippers definitely make things difficult, but I wouldn’t say they ruin the fun of the knife collecting/enthusiast hobby.

I personally like buying Striders, and they are probably on par with Spyderco sprints and GEC runs regarding flippers. Sometimes I feel it’s worse because of the crazy secondary markup. It’s not unheard of for basic production Striders to be advertised for 300%-400% above retail, translating to a $1300-$1600 sale price.

ETA: It makes it worse when you see their sale thread that read like -

Brand new SMF from recent drop. Taken out of the baggie and fondled but it’s just not for me. Asking $1250 no trades

I know how you feel,I try to get exclusive and sprints when I can but I don’t stress on it too much..if I can’t get a PM2 in XHP,CruWear,S90V,etc then oh well,S30V and S110V is plenty good enough for me.I have plenty other knives in a lot of the other “super steels” used in the sprint runs and exclusives..I wasn’t able to get a PM2 in S90V but I had no trouble at all getting my carbon fiber+S90V Bugout..I wasn’t able to get the Shaman in Cruwear but that didn’t stop me from getting a Mini Adamas in Cruwear..I wasn’t able to get a M4 PM2 Tanto but I had no problem getting a Benchmade Freek in M4..etc,etc..I would love to have gotten those exclusives but I’m not gonna stress over it.I already have knives of the same model that will serve me just as well.I already have other great knives in those steels anyway..at the end of the day,I can always find plenty of other knives I would love to add to my collection
