Are the New Hinderer XM-18's worth the wait?

No high end collection can be complete without one.

Just an observation......I'd say that statement could use some refinement and clarification. I have what could be considered a high end collection and I don't have one, nor is there any place within my collection for one.

I concur, and probably most high end collectors aren't even interested in knives like xm18.

"Gen. 3 is not handground by Rick and therefore it isn't a true custom."

What is or isn't a custom knife is open to great debate. Some believe that any knife sold in multiple copies cannot be a custom, even if it is sole authorship.

What is most commendable about Mr. Hinderer work is his full disclosure of how he makes his knives. That is more rare than building a quality knife, giving servie to military, or reasonable cost. Too many makers either lie by omission or lie outright about how their knives are truly made. Being open has certainly not hurt Mr. Hinderer's sales or career...why then do others feel the need to either lie, hide or be cagey about how they make their knives.

Yes,the XM-18 is worth the wait.I recently scored a 3rd gen.custom.Simply an awesome knife.
I'm already looking for a plain jane 3rd gen.to edc.
