Are You A HOG?. . . .

Porkers: I have found myself, drawn into knives i know squat about, but truly enjoy their presence, Their large bold lines, and have yet to deface one on a branch, the last 6 months have been a tradgedy with my business and my health, but i still find myself drawn to these blades, gone is the interest in the aquisition, of A/M's or paragons, or my interest in high end autos! Which have been my focus for years, I have been routinely trying to buy from the combat store although i am a newbie, starting to get the hang of it, although it is a learning process, many thanks to all of the busse addicts i have learned from on the forums! Is there a Busse knives anonymaous! I have ended up with about 15 of various Busse. swamp and dumpsters in the last few months and am still awed by their size and functionality. Telll me this is not a 45 year old mans change of life!! John at infobound1

HEY, I didn't say you guys weren't friendly just intimidating. And I wish I were lunde undercover, than I would have tons of infi, and a cushy job at Adobe...

I Have been there done that, Have never started a fire with any of my toys, Am actually after 20 years of collecting starting to sell my multiples and plain vintage knives, check out the forums and cannot get away from looking at the busses for sale!

A little off topic, but someone mentioned all the people who are a member of this forum and/or buying boat loads of Busse's and not actually a part of the "community." I know everyone has a first post, and you guys all seem like nice people. But this is one of the more intimidating boards to join and PARTICIPATE in. Everyone seemingly has a million Busse's, knows more about infi, has a million posts and has a relationship with other members here and the whole Busse company...

What I'm saying is there seems to be devoted fans of Busse who are members here (maybe), but arent participating here. It's obviously up to the people who are defining Hogs if you want to include said people. I buy, use and reccomend rats and busse's, and think they are some of the best fixed blades out there, but does that make me a hog?

The simple definition seems to be "People who positively participate, and we want participating, on the various Busseboards."

By the way, Lunde is responsible for letting me know about this board. It took me a very long time to believe he wasnt a part owner or sales rep for Busse. He photographs them, helps people procure them, answers questions about them, and pitches BF and Busse whenever possible. In fact I'm suprised the knife section of Sigforum hasnt been renamed: "Lunde's Busse picture section"I think he ought to be a HOG if there ever was one.

Sirahren,

I too was intimidated when I first started lurking, and took a while for me to get taht "comfortable feeling" after I started posting. It is a gradual blend in, just like merging onto a freeway.

Don't be intimidated bro, just come in, ask questions, offer opinions, experiences, and soon it will be you offering the knowledge and guidance to the next generation of enthusiasts.

I hope that we do not come across as exclusionary in any way, shape, or form.

The only folks we don't really like to have around are trolls and buttheads.

They quickly get the message, either though the members of the forum, or, sometimes, through moderation.

I can say that there are quite a few of these guys who have become good friends, originally though this board, subsequently through meeting up at shows, shoots, or Blade. We can not see each other for a year, or two, or three, and the next time we meet up it is jsut like we just got done puttin a hurt on Fogo 10 minutes ago, and it's time for cigars, likker, and catchin up.

As to the question at hand, it is a tough one.

It has been a topic of frustrating discussions over meals, likker, and phone calls over the last few years.

I'll defer to the community, and moreso to Jerry's wisdom.

I got hooked on Busse because of the people and the knives. The diverse group of diehards that I have met here are second to none. Yes they will send you for coffee just before Bladewest opens its doors but then when you finally get to the trough they will reach in their bag and sell you the knife you wanted at cost.
I know I just traded a Prototype Bowie to a fellow Busse Lover for cost. There are other Hogs here that want to profit from their fellow Hogs. I guess it is all good and each to his own.
I know I personally have been Assimilated by this awesome group and seem to end up here morning noon and night and sometimes in the middle of the night when I cannot sleep.
I drove eight hours to get to BladeWest at 1:00AM Thursday night and yesterday I was checking on flights to Kentucky but that is a little too far so soon after BladeWest for me.

I’m no expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn “two weeks” ago.

I got someone else's batac by mistake, called the shop, and sent it off propmtly (and didn't even cut air with it). I guess that should forever prevent me from reaching hogdom.

Hey, That was may BATAC!!:) Thank you.

Fine, Fine I'll speak up.

Hello, my name is Ahren, and its been one month since my last infi drink...

You're IN  Welcome to the club.

Warning --- too much time on the forums does tend to lead to a deeper and more serious addiction

Alright...I have read all these posts and I find them ALL enjoyable :):)

What is Hog???? Good question??

Only Jerry will decide this because he was the "ONE WHO STARTED THIS ALL "

I will say this....I am a HOG and very proud and at Blade this year I was very surprised:):):)

YOU GO JERRY:):)

Does physical stature have any say as being a HOG? Standing at 6'-6" and weighing in at 260 lbs (not a lot of fat weight either). BTW my INFI collection weighs at least as much as I do.

Bring on the ASH 1!
