Are You A HOG?. . . .

Hey! Good to see Voracious chime in. Haven't seen you at the trough in a while myself. Nice

edited to add: The Greatest (cigar) Ash was a contest at Blade this year.

As an avid outdors fan .hunting ,being in the woods ,fishing and scuba diving for the 40yrs The best fixed blade i've ever really got excited over is the BUSSE line.Although I own many other knives made by scrapyard ,swamprat ,and others. As others have stated its a state of mind .Of course our egos would love to us all to be HOG"s . I really got hooked on Busse knives because of their design and quality and the no nonsence warranty. What every the decision is made on who is a HOG or not .You made a customer for life with me.I have only dealt with AMY-O and it was GREAT.Looking foward for new releases from Busse and more on the exchange . NO REGRETS

. . . Well, I suppose that anything is possible!!!

As we prepare for the intro of the ASH 1 we find ourselves struggling to define the term HOG. . .

Being an inducted HOG will definitely have its benefits. . ..

Could it be that merely having an affection and small collection of Busse Blades makes you a HOG?

Could it be that everyone who owns at least one Busse Combat blade has a little bit of HOG in him or her?

Should we set parameters on the number or value of someone's collection in order to reach Hogdom?

Should there be several different levels of Hogdom such as "Piglet", "Oinker", "Alpha Boar", and "Old Guard HOG"???. . . .

Can I ever be drunk enough to figure this out on my own?

Oink at me Hogs. . . . tell me what you think!

I should be good and hammered by tomorrow night when I finally come to a decision. . . .

Let's drink!

Jerry
:D

.

Jerry, I am a devotee of the Swamp, and just became a student of the Hog. But alas, I am not a Rat. I have not bought from the store, just from fellow brothers on here.

What do you Hogs/Rats/Dogs think?

Oh yuh, gotta lay out my street cred...

Busse muddy meaner
Swamp Rat Battle Rat, Bog Dog, Camp Tramp, Howling Rat

Hmmmmm, state mind? how many you have? how much time you spend here? Piglet or Hog? Wow, those are all very good questions....funny I can only come up with #1 answer:

:D:p;) A Piglet with Hog like intentions!

Not really, the ASH is the Anniversary Steel Heart 1.

The cigar ash contest was not named, but Jerry said to me "great ash", that's why I had it engraved on my Bad Warden which was partially paid for with my winnings.

Guyon tied for first place. I'm not sure what he used his shop credit on.

A little off topic, but someone mentioned all the people who are a member of this forum and/or buying boat loads of Busse's and not actually a part of the "community." I know everyone has a first post, and you guys all seem like nice people. But this is one of the more intimidating boards to join and PARTICIPATE in. Everyone seemingly has a million Busse's, knows more about infi, has a million posts and has a relationship with other members here and the whole Busse company...

What I'm saying is there seems to be devoted fans of Busse who are members here (maybe), but arent participating here. It's obviously up to the people who are defining Hogs if you want to include said people. I buy, use and reccomend rats and busse's, and think they are some of the best fixed blades out there, but does that make me a hog?

The simple definition seems to be "People who positively participate, and we want participating, on the various Busseboards."

By the way, Lunde is responsible for letting me know about this board. It took me a very long time to believe he wasnt a part owner or sales rep for Busse. He photographs them, helps people procure them, answers questions about them, and pitches BF and Busse whenever possible. In fact I'm suprised the knife section of Sigforum hasnt been renamed: "Lunde's Busse picture section"I think he ought to be a HOG if there ever was one.

How about posting a pic of yourself with a Busse in interesting places - like church or something?

Or better yet - posting a pic showing that you have actually used a Busse that you got!!

I have a few clips and pics somewhere around here. :D

I think it should be a measure of ones involvement / commitment to the Busse Community, whether you have one Busse or 2 dozen. I have found this to be one of the best communities in the on-line world and I think that can be directly attributed to its active members, which I like to think of as HOGs.

Whether the contribution is anecdotal, educational or just a video of a microwave being destroyed by a FBM to rap music - its what's make this the best forum on the bladeforums.

I say go with your gut on this one, have a drink, open the forums browse and make a decision. I'm good with that.

This sounds right on to me. ;)

Folks here are among the friendliest on BF. They're also eager to share info. Ask it and it will be answered.

This is a whole different category of HOG known as the INFI PIMP.

sirahren, let me the first to welcome you to the busse forum, and be the first to tell you to watch your infi when around lunde!

I got hooked on Busse because of the people and the knives. The diverse group of diehards that I have met here are second to none. Yes they will send you for coffee just before Bladewest opens its doors but then when you finally get to the trough they will reach in their bag and sell you the knife you wanted at cost.
I know I just traded a Prototype Bowie to a fellow Busse Lover for cost. There are other Hogs here that want to profit from their fellow Hogs. I guess it is all good and each to his own.
I know I personally have been Assimilated by this awesome group and seem to end up here morning noon and night and sometimes in the middle of the night when I cannot sleep.
I drove eight hours to get to BladeWest at 1:00AM Thursday night and yesterday I was checking on flights to Kentucky but that is a little too far so soon after BladeWest for me.

I’m no expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn “two weeks” ago.

Ok Lunde, the gig's up. We're onto the sneaky "post under another name" trick! ;) :foot:
