Are you a knife collector, or user.

98% user. I got one collector knife that my Dad bought as a numbered pair back in the mid 1970's

Well I just got a close to $200 knife and really like it and it looks amazing but I paid $200 to get some use out of the sharp edge if I collected then why would I need it sharp! Hahaha just kidding I get collecting but I use my knives because I spend money on them to get use out of them!

That's the barrier I gotta break, I tend to beat on my Beckers the most...I hesitate some to put a good beating on a $200 knife , but that's what I bought em for. I guess I need to just buy a $600 knife so beating on a $200 won't seem as bad lol.

Good point I mean it is the Zt 0550 but I got the black so it was a little expensive but I mean a hard use knife and it has a warranty so thats why I am going to use it but I don't abuse I just use! But I see what you are saying, I don't have $600 for a knife :)

Yea I just recently broke the $200 mark, and from a guy who doesn't like spending $$$ that took a lot self convincing followed by immediate buyers remorse until I got it in hand lol. I'm constantly having the inner battle of you have plenty of knives why do you need another the same size and shape, you can only use one at a time. Lol

Both. The majority of my knives are all under $100..a couple over.

User. Many people would cringe at this.

I paid $850 for my grail fixed blade. It would be a waste of money not to use it.

A saw would make a cleaner cut. :)

I'm a user. I buy them and I fondle them. Then I buy more.

Sometimes I even cut with them. But only when they are right tool for the job. :)

If you have more users than you use... does that make you a collector? :o:p

Yeah I get it, what did you get?
This one came yesterday

Lol sure, if money was no option I'd likely need a house just to store my blades lol[emoji12]

Survive gso 4.1, and a microtech ultratech limited edition carbon fiber.

I have about 20 atm. So I would say both.
But I do believe a 3rd option should exist.. Hoarder..
I am getting near that stage.

I really only carry one...for a year or more. The rest are new or as new, and get traded, sold, or I give some to selected folks.

I would consider myself both. I collect rare ones and use common production models

Yes... User first, collector second, because I can't carry or use them all at once.

I like the idea of seeking out the best I can buy, so I don't have to worry about using it and hurting it. If I buy a chopper, I want it to take a beating and ask for more.

If I seek out a thin slicer,, I want one that will perform, and slice all day long.

Seeing them perform is more than half the fun,, any old piece of steel can collect dust.

Cheers

This. I already have >50 Sanrenmus, >20 Enlans and 1 RealSteel and yet i keep going back to the chinese ecommerce portals for more.
At 10 bucks a pop,, you could've had a Sebenza folder, and still had money left over for a fixed blade Spartan/Busse/Winkler/Arno Bernard/Survive..

Light user.

I don't use my knife for cutting cardboard or wood, just the occasional piece of paper, packaging, tape (darn adhesive always attaches itself to the edge) etc. I do like to keep it pristine though since the rough mirror finish looks awesome, though it could probably take a few scratches. Once I get a leek, that'll see the brunt of usage, though even then it would still be kept looking good.
