Are you getting rid of your 21 to get the 25?

Is it me? Or, am I seeing more 21s posted on the exchange lately?

:(

I was just noticing that myself. I just jumped on a 25 last week, should be in the mail today or tomorrow. Then Saturday the heat pump goes up. Might have to let it go :(
Or, maybe the fact that it's been in the mid 60's here the last couple days is a sign that I should keep it? :)

Not me. I'm sticking with my 21. Many of the "improvements" on the 25 have turned me off. I don't need that thick of a blade on a folder, 1/8" on the 21 is perfect. I don't need an oversized pivot, I couldn't break the 21's pivot if I tried. With the oversized pivot comes a different screw size. Not only do I find it unattractive, but you now need two tools to break it down. No pivot bushing seems like a step backward, but the jury is still out on that one. I very much dislike finger cutouts. I want a full range of movement on the handle. And the new design in general is less sleek than the 21. The 21 is very similar to the original P sebenza, and that's the way I like it.

I doubt thats why you are noticing more on the exchange. Seems to me Sebenza's have always come up often here, and it could be because we have alot of Sebenza owners here since there is a CRK room.

You mentioned all of the reasons I prefer my Regulars, and Classics over the 25. The main one's being the finger cut outs, and thicker blade of the 25.

I've always seen plenty of Sebenzas show up for sale. Not sure if i notice it more because I love CRK's, but I doubt people are selling 21's just to get a 25.

I like all of my CRK's for various reasons, and I can understand completely why some gravitate toward the simpler design of the 21, but after I had the chance to hold the new 25 at Blade, it was love at first grasp. I think the whole design is fantastic!

Which Christmas coming up and too many kids to buy for I may be letting a few large Sebenzas go in order to fund a 25. Hard choice though so I may just wait and pick up a 25 so I can decide what I like the best. Who am I kidding... I'll likely just end up with all of them :)

Tomsch. Get the 25, you won't regret it. Fantiastic!

I agree

I completely agree! With the thicker blade and larger pivot, it's as if CRK looked at the Strider SnG and the Hinderer XM-18 and said "We can do that, too!". Totally unnecessary changes IMO, I mean, have we ever seen a Sebenza with a busted pivot? The Sebenza I know is a "fine cutting tool", not an overbuilt, hard-use folder.

What really turns me off with the 25 is the additional finger cutout. It completely throws off the clean lines and classic looks of the Sebenza. I have no doubt that the 25 has all the characteristics we've come to expect - perfect fit and finish, tight tolerances, etc. - I wouldn't expect any less from CRK. I will say that the blade shape look great. But I love my 21's, Classics and Regulars, and I'll be holding on to them for a LONG time.

I find it interesting... err, funny that what we disliked in the previous version is now gone in the 25. But, now new characteristics exist in the 25 design that make us bicker just the same.

I never expect to sell my small 21 insigo, it was a gift from my wife on our 5th wedding anniversary, but I do want to check out the 25. And to think I had almost convinced myself that I needed the Umnumzaan lol.

I'm very curious to check out the 25, but to me the Sebenza, though lovely and amazing in all its iterations, reached perfection in the BG42 REgular.

My P seb doesn't have a blue thumb stud, I have a preference for silver, so I am waiting on the 25.

I'm seeing a lot of nice knives on the exchange right now, and they're selling cheap if at all in many cases. I think it has more to do with the crappy economy and Christmas coming that the release of the 25. To answer the OP's question, no, I won't get rid of my 21's when I get a 25. But I do reserve the right to not carry them as much. :p

I look at it this way. Any new CRK is a time to celebrate! It is different enough from the Zaan and the 21 to buy one and use the snot out of it.
