Are you late with your 2008 Christmas Exchange knife...?

Everyone who sent a knife on any of the exchange and did not recieve a knife is at the least owed the right for others to know who did not send a knife. That stinks big time a person is only as good as there word!

I agree, so here is who exchanged with who.

Joly, Kovanda and Lawson exchanged with each other.

If you're not one of these three, then you made a knife for the person that was making you a knife. So, if you're not Joly, Kovanda or Lawson, you have their shipping address. You can contact me for their email address.

I have been in the shop and on here learning and would love to be a part this coming christmas. Ashame that a select few can ruin a good thing.

What we want to know is who are the dead beats that like to only get a knife and not give a knife. As long these people are not exposed the the other members than they will readily join kiths on other forums and take advantage of the folks that are good for their word.

Hey Bob- Just want to make sure you know Keith isn't a dead-beat. His biggest delay was by far ME.

Bob,
I understand your frustration, but it is up to the person that didn't get a knife to decide whether or not to call them out publicly, in my opinion, at least about this years knife. I don't feel that I'm the judge and jury on this though, as far as who should be called out and who shouldn't be called out in public. I do think the people that didn't get a knife have an obligation to email me, so that I know who to exclude from the exchange next year. That way, they can't stick someone again next year.

I do hope that everyone that didn't get a knife emails me at scottickesknives@gmail.com so that I have a list of them for next year. If I do this next year, anyone that didn't make a Christmas knife as they had promised, won't be permitted in next year.

In no way am i refering to Keith i am not at all worried about myself i know Keith is working away on it. I am refering to this.

"I don't feel that this is the right forum to be calling people out. They know who they are and I know who they are. One of them did this last year and the year before! All kinds of excuses last year, and now again this year. He is definitely not going to be included next year, if I run it again."

If a person was in one exchange before and never sent a knife they should never be aloud in another let alone two without the person that has there name not being told they did not fulfill there agreement in the last exchange.

At the sake of being redundant... I'll just reiterate... and try to be clear.

Keith has been working hard to build his presence in this "community." As opposed to most "kids" his age, he types his posts with good spelling and punctuation and treats people with respect.

I volunteered to help him with his exchange knife when he was having heat-treat problems. He lost a couple months because of MY hang-ups. Not anything he did.

I just want to make all this clear so he doesn't get excluded from future projects or have anyone think poorly of him when he hasn't done anything wrong.

Now if anybody wants to call me a dirtbag, I've got pretty stout shoulders and can handle the load... :)

Thanks.

Edited to add: Thanks Bob!... we must have been typing at the same time :)

Too me, if someone is late and they communicate that then that is one thing, but when you do not hear from them that that is wrong. And if I read it correct earlier one even posts on hear regular and is posting pics of knives he is making, that is just low.

Nick you were typing as I was. I would never say anything or think anythiing bad about Keith. He is working on the knife and is just late getting it finished. That is allot different from not saying anything or letting anyone know what the hold up is. I also believe that everyone else is the same way too.

Being that I’m one of the people that got screwed on this deal, I don’t see posting peoples names that didn’t keep there word as a fair thing. I posted pics of the knife I sent out on the other thread because I felt like sharing the knife I made, and waited this long for the guy to do it himself.
We are all adults here capable of taking care of themselves. I e-mailed Scott back in January telling him that I had had bad luck communicating with this guy. I let him know I didn’t expect him to do anything but that I didn’t want someone else to get screwed next year.
This whole thing has made me question if I will do it in 2009 or not. If I do it again it will be because I have faith in most of the people of this forum. Like Scott who opened his home and feed us a fine meal at the BBQ after Bladeshow West and all the others who have given so much and have asked for nothing else to all the guys starting out.

And you feel that the person that did not send you a knife is a reputable person to deal with?

I second that, although I will probably do as you and have faith. I don't hold grudges generally but do agree that one screw up it enough to ban from future exchanges.

No, but I can tell you that he has posted a grand total of 3 times on the site, and has not come back since Feb. This is not someone selling knives, that others should be warned of. This is someone who got in over there head, or wanted somthing for nothing. I'm not mad at this person, as it would be wasting my time to hate someone I don't think I'll ever meet face to face. I think keeping him from playing next year if he shows his face is all that needs to be done.

If he grows up, and mans up that is his choise and calling him out in public just shoots this down.

Edit to add
Leaving bad feed back would be the way to let others know of his dealing. This way if he wanted to sell down the road just those people would know without telling the world.

Chuck this is not just about you and your exchange partner it's about the exchange as a whole!

I "want" to know from anyone that didn't get a knife! I'll email them myself and let them know that I think that they need to man up. If they don't, I have no control over that. I know of one name for sure, that I'm going to be sending an email to. I doubt it will do any good, but I have to try.

Okay, I've sent out two emails to the two that I know of that did not send a knife, as they had promised.

Still waiting on mine to show up.

Mr. Cook,
I got a message from Brad Sims that he sent the knife out in January, and that the box arrived back at his home on this past Thursday. He claimed the shipping box was all beat up, but that the knife was not damaged. He blamed it on his poor handwriting on the shipping label. He said he reprinted a label using his computer so that it was legible. He states that it's on it's way either tomorrow or Tuesday. We'll see...

Hey!! I didn't get my knife from the Christmas exchange!! Oh, wait....I didn't sign up either. I will have to amend that for this year. Please keep this going, Scott, as I'd love to be involved. This past year was just too busy with orders waiting and the wedding. It's a great thing for 90% of people involved, and I'd love to get the chance to participate.

I'd prefer that others that became overwhelmed planned ahead as you did, and didn't over commit themselves. Thank you for declining, when you knew it might be a possibility that you would let someone down. That's actually what Christmas spirit is all about!
